Katrina's POV

Where am I? It's so cold. I can't move. I know eyes are half open, but I can't close them, or open them more. I couldn't see anything. Maybe there was nothing. It was just dark, pitch black.

I tried to speak, but my mouth was stuck. The only physical thing I could do was suck in a breath through my partially parted lips. I felt like I was floating, completely weightless, and I enjoyed it. I felt relaxed. I want to stay here forever.

I saw my hair in front of my face, whipping in a way that resembles what it would look like if I were falling. I had a feeling I wasn't staying here longer. I didn't want to leave this empty place. This place void of worry, pain, and anger.

I fell farther and farther, and I reluctantly let myself leave the peaceful place. There was an odd feeling of being shaken awake and light filtered through my closed eyelids.

I felt my face cringe at the light, though it was dim. There were beeps all around me. I heard voices, lots of them. I could barley pick out my mom's slurred voice in the garble.

I opened my eyes slightly and the fluorescent lights pierced my brain. I grunted and squeezed my eyes shut. The noise stopped and I could hear feet shuffling towards me. A cold hand grabbed mine.

"Hey," a familiar voice said. I couldn't place it, so risked opening my eyes again. This time the light wasn't too much and I could keep my eyes open. I looked at who spoke.

Her big blue eyes shone with worry and, it seemed, her face angled downward at every corner. Her hair was in twin braids with a bright teal hair tie at the ends. I searched the corners of my mind for a name and I squinted in concentration. Alice, her name was Alice.

My mind was suddenly flooded with memories. Memories of when Mike told me that no one was in the parking lot flashed through my mind. Something told me that this meant Alice left me. She left me. And she sits here, wracked with worry, not even looking guilty. I felt my jaw tighten and I pulled my hand out of her grasp as fast as I could. Pain shot up my arm and I winced. The beeps in the background sped up and doctors scrambled around me, thankfully blocking my view of the betraying blonde.

The doctors called out a couple of things and one fiddled with a needle in the crook of my elbow. I heard some movement to the right behind me and the needle seemed to shoot a large amount of clear liquid in my arm. My vision fuzzed around the edges and my whole body felt heavy and numb. My eyelids drooped and I could feel myself drifting back to the peaceful empty place.
