After five minutes of walking down the sidewalk of the crossroads, I can distinguish a coffee shop at the corner of the road.
The bell chimes as I walk through the door of the shop. The aroma of coffee and freshly baked pastries instantly makes its way to my nostrils. I inhale the scent deeply wanting to savor the fragrance.
I skim the words on the menu, suddenly overwhelmed with various selections of beverages and pastries. As I get in line to order, I collide with a tall stranger.
¨Merlin's beard are you alright?!¨ The stranger exclaims extending his arm out.
¨Yeah, I'm just fine." I respond taking his hand.
¨Are you sure? It looked like you took quite the fall.¨ He adds, his eyes full of concern.
¨Like I said it's all good.¨ I reply with a soft smile.
He lets out a relieved sigh. ¨I'm Theodore, Theodore Nott.¨
¨Nice to meet you, Theodore. I'm Aurelia, Aurelia Moralis.¨ I respond mocking the way he introduced himself.
He is quite the sight for sore eyes. His sandy brown hair lightly falls against his forehead, and his eyes are something you could absolutely get lost in. He has a soft smile that never seems to leave his face, not to mention the hot Italian accent he obtains.
¨Well Aurelia,¨ Theodore says snapping me out of my daze,¨Why don't I buy you a cup of tea as an apology.¨
¨I appreciate the offer, but I find the taste of tea quite displeasing."
He quirked an eyebrow and clicks his tongue against the inside of his cheek clearly disbelieving my dismay of the hot beverage. ¨Alright then, why don't I buy you a cup of coffee and a cake pop instead.¨
¨Now that's more like it." I respond walking away to find our table.
Five minutes later the barista serves us our drinks and makes her way back to the register. ¨So how come I haven't seen you around before?" Theodore questions sipping his earl gray tea.
I emit a deep sigh. I loathe having to talk about what ensued in America. I inform him of the events leading up to my family's move, of course, leaving out the precise reason why we relocated. Naturally, he had a few questions so I did what I had to do; lie.
After explaining almost everything, he looks at me in suspicion and a part of conscience presumes it isn't of distrust. He must know I'm lying about something, but he doesn't want to question me about it.
¨So you're going to attend Hogwarts I'm assuming.¨ Theodore says.
¨Yeah I'm excited, but a little apprehensive about the whole thing you know," I say in a dejected tone. Theodore simply nods, signaling for me to go on. ¨I mean leaving my entire life behind me and having to build a new life in a country across the globe. And I don't know if I'll make friends or if I'll just become a nobody.¨ Theodore notices my anxiety and takes ahold of my hand and smiles at me.
¨I promise you're going to do perfect¨ he says reassuringly, ¨and you won't be alone you'll have me.¨
I beam at him in astonishment thinking how he could be so nice to a girl he'd just met an hour ago.
¨Thank you, Theodore I'm truly grateful for that.¨ I say my eyes watering a little.
¨Please Aurelia, call me Theo.¨
I glance at the clock on the wall realizing that I should be heading home now. I thank Theo once again for the coffee and make my way out the door.
