I walk through the muggle platform alone since mother decided to say her final goodbyes at home. I stare at platforms 9 and 10 still yet to spot 9 3/4. I curse myself for being so stupid remembering that this is a magic platform we're talking about. I brace myself for an impact I know won't happen, and sprint straight through the wall.
As my sight refocuses, my eyes turn the size of saucers in revelation. A vast maroon-tinted train puffs smoke from its chimney. I watch most parents bid their children goodbye with proud faces and tears in their eyes. I can feel my heart clench a little with jealousy. I take a deep breath and board the train.
I push through the crowd of the students desperate to find an empty compartment. After a while of searching, I finally find an unoccupied section. I slide the door open and plop down on the seat. I take Venus, my ball python which I bought at Diagon Alley, out of his terrarium and wrap him around my neck.
I sighed closing my eyes wanting to take a nap. Right as I was about to fall into a deep sleep, I hear two voices entering my compartment. I open my eyes to people I'm assuming are twin sisters, looking down at me with concern.
¨Phew,¨ the twin on the right breathes out. ¨We thought you were dead.¨
I look at them with confusion until I realize Venus is still hugging my neck.
¨No need to worry I'm still alive,¨ I respond with an amused chuckle. I take Venus off my neck and place him back in his cage.
¨We didn't mean to disturb you, but we couldn't find an empty compartment. And when we saw you in here by yourself with that snake wrapped around your neck, we both got a little spooked.¨ This time the twin on the left speaking.
I crack a soft smile. I usher them to take a seat, which they happily obliged.
¨I'm Aurelia by the way,¨ I introduce myself, trying to avoid an awkward silence.
¨I'm Sage,¨ the twin to the right replies, ¨and this is my sister Vega.¨
¨It's a pleasure to meet you both. ¨ I say proud of myself for making what I hope are new friends.
¨So, what houses are you guys in?" I asked attempting to start a conversation. ¨Slytherin, which by the way is the best house at Hogwarts.¨ Vega says with a content grin. Sage playfully rolls her eyes at her sister's antics. ¨I'm a Ravenclaw,¨ she speaks up, ¨which is definitely the best Hogwarts house.¨
They start bickering back and forth arguing about whose house is better. I read about the four houses a few nights ago and I really don't care about which one I'm sorted into. Although, Slytherin and Gryffindor seem to be extremely biased against each other.
Sage looks at me and speaks, ¨What's with your accent by the way? Ohh wait, are you the new transfer student from Ilvermorny?¨
My heart starts palpitating as I wonder how the fuck people already know about me.
¨Um yeah,¨ I say trying to keep my voice steady, ¨that's me.¨
This time Vega says, ¨Well your accent is badass.¨ All I can do is nod and laugh nervously.
I stand up asking the girls where the nearest bathroom is. ¨Just keep walking straight.¨ They say simultaneously. I exit the compartment, following their directions. About a minute later I notice a door labeled 'girls lavatory'.
I walk in looking at myself in the mirror trying to calm my breathing. I quickly splash myself with cold water in an attempt to get rid of the shade of crimson across my face.
Once I look back to normal, I take another deep breath and walk out.
