I heard a scoff at the door, "Find anything, feisty-pants?"
I stood up, crossing my arms and looking like a five-year-old who couldn't have ice cream. "Oh shut up you pervert!"
He laughed at my attitude and said, "Oh, I see you've been through my history." He had this strange pedo-ish look on his face.
"Creep." I stood up and looked at him with disgust.
"I'm surprised you didn't expect it , to be honest." He said.
"Well of course, this is what I should have expected from a salacious weirdo like you. But for some reason...never mind."
"No no, please continue." Shay said, gesturing me to carry on.
"Get lost." I rolled my eyes.
He crossed his arms and raised his eyebrows as he leaned against the door-frame. "Are you seriously telling me to get lost from my own house?"
"I wish I could." I mumbled as I began to walk out of his room.
"Hey, Shanaya?"
I turned around, surprised at how genuine his voice sounded. "Yeah?"
"Um, not to be rude or not that I want you to leave or anything but when are your parents coming back?" He asked, the awkwardness evident in his voice.
"Not sure, to be honest. I should probably call them and remind them that they have a teenage daughter who is currently accommodated at a pedophilic and sexually frustrated boy's house." I smirked and walked into my room, leaving Shay on his own.
I decided it was a good idea to call my parents and when I did, all I could decipher from the terrible quality of sound and the cows mooing in the background was that my parents would return in three weeks. THEE FREAKING WEEKS!
Once it had finally sunk in that I only had a fortnight and a week remaining of my blissful freedom, I knew it was time. Time to make a bucket list!
I know what you're thinking - a bucket list? Surely it's not like you're going to die or something? No and yes because I'd become so attached to this freedom that letting it go would be like falling off of a precipice and landing back into the hellhole called 'home'.
I sat down and thought about what would be on the list and I had limited my choices down to ten, hoping that I would at least manage to complete that much. In the end, I managed to come up with this:
1) Go to my first ever house party.
2) Go paint balling (I knew this would never happen as long as I lived with my parents after that incident during art.)
3) Drink alcohol...maybe...
4) Do an all-nighter for real (I had never actually done an all-nighter with Rishi)
5) Prank call someone, hehe...
6) Be in a YouTube video
7) Buy a freaking dress!
8) Bunk school for one day.
9) Bake a cake (don't ask.)
10) Have my first kiss...ok maybe not...
I was already hesitating just thinking about half of the things on the list but I knew this was my chance. After all, it wasn't often that my parents left me on my own whilst they went on holiday.
As much as I wanted to complete the list, I didn't want anyone to come to know about it, anyone would think it's the lamest bucket list in the world.
