The Start of a Beautiful Friendship

Today was the start of an incredible day. It was the first day of kindergarten for Fiona Stevens and she was so excited that she was awake way earlier than her dad. She was waiting for a little while before she heard her fathers alarm clock go off then she laid in bed closing her eyes acting like she was sleeping. Her father walks into the room and goes to her bed shaking her then he chuckles before starting to tickle Fiona " I know your awake " he said and Fiona starts giggling " okay yes I'm awake daddy" she said " alright well ill start making us breakfast while you my little princess go into your closet and put on the new outfit I bought you for school then after breakfast your aunt Sarah should be here to do your hair " he said and smiled before kissing her head and walking to the kitchen.

Fiona lived with her dad, who was a single father due to her mother and father having an argument about her and her mother abandoned her because she didn't wanna deal with the responsibility of Fiona. Over the years her father Derek has been the best dad that he can be and has been there for her through everything. He has never missed a moment in her life because he wants to make sure he's an amazing parent to her that her mother couldn't even try to be.

She went into her closet and pulled out her new outfit, which was a cute red t-shirt with a teddy bear on it and the sleeves ruffled then she had a pair of jeans with red flowers all over them. she smiled and put on the outfit being very excited as red was her favorite color. She went out to the kitchen where her dad had just put breakfast on the table then he helps sit her in the chair before sitting down himself starting to eat. She eats her breakfast and smiles " thanks daddy for an amazing breakfast and an amazing outfit I love it " she said " your welcome sweetheart you look beautiful " he said and kissed her cheek. She giggles and finishes her food before putting her plate in the sink then she hears the front door open " hello where is the little girl going to her first day of school " Sarah said. Fiona smiled and ran to the front door " Aunt Sarah!" she said and hugged her tightly " hey there pretty girl you look gorgeous in that outfit your dad has amazing taste in fashion " she said and giggles as she hugs her back. Her dad walks into the front entrance and smiles " thank you sis for coming here to do her hair " he said " no problem anything for the best niece in the whole wide world" she said and walked into the living room with Fiona " alright kiddo what do we want to do with your hair " she asked as she sat Fiona down in front of her and starts brushing her hair " hmmm whatever you wanna do just make sure I won't ruin it when I play outside with the other kids " Fiona said. Her aunt nodded and started to do her hair putting a couple tiny braids in there then makes two little buns leaving most of her hair down. Sarah gives Fiona a mirror for her to see and she smiles wide " wow I love it thank you " she said and hugs Sarah " you're welcome princess now lets get your socks and shoes on since your dad is still getting ready for work and I'll get your lunchbox for you" she said. After a little while Derek came out in his work uniform and went to look for Fiona " sweetie where are you?" he asked " at the door waiting for you and saying goodbye to aunt Sarah " she said hugging her. He walks in and smiles as he sees his daughter all ready for school with her bag and lunchbox " Awww I can't believe it my little girl's first day" he said and grabbed his camera taking a couple pictures " come on daddy we got to go we both don't wanna be late" she said pulling him out the door.

Once they got to the school, her dad got her out of her car seat and walked her into the school then walked her into the classroom she was gonna be in. She started getting nervous until she walked in and saw how amazing the room looked. She looked as the teacher walks up to her " Hi I'm Miss May I will be your teacher What's your name? " she asked " I'm Fiona Stevens it's a pleasure to meet you" Fiona said and held her hand out to shake, which miss may smiled and shook her hand " oh wow a pleasure to meet you too miss big words " she said and giggled " I taught her how to use manners and how to greet new people" Derek said " that's wonderful and you must be her father " she said " yes I am Derek nice to meet you" her dad said and shook her hand. After they greeted each other Fiona and her dad went to her cubby to put her stuff up " alright princess daddy has to go to work and remember you take bus number 540 home everyday you come to school because daddy can't be able to pick you up since I will be at work when you get out, but you're aunt Sarah will be at the house " he said. She nodded and hugged her dad " bye daddy have a good day " she said " bye princess you have a good and fun day too I love you" he said and kisses her head " I love you too". When he left, Fiona looks around seeing multiple kids playing toys with each other then she saw a table for drawing or coloring books. She walked to the table and sat down starting to draw butterflies getting lost in the drawing until a little boy came up and tapped her shoulder. She turned her head back and looked at the boy " Hello can I sit here with you?" he asked " yea sure " she said and scoots over on the bench letting him sit next to her. He smiles and holds out his hand " I'm Jared nice to meet you " he said and she shakes his hand " nice to meet you too I'm Fiona" she said " that is an amazing name Fiona it's like a name for a princess" " well my daddy does say I'm a princess " "and he's right a very pretty princess" he said which made her blush " thank you since I'm a princess I'll need a prince" " I'll be your prince and knight in shining armor " he said and smiles. The whole day they spent it playing and learning. At recess, Fiona, Jared, and a couple kids pretended to be in a kingdom before they went inside for nap time.

At the end of the day it was time to go home and Fiona was getting nervous because she would have to ride the bus and she didn't know any kids her age that lived in her neighborhood. Once she got her stuff she looked to see Jared " hey Fiona how was your nap " he asked " it was great but now I have to ride the bus " she said and looked down at her lunchbox " so do I, I have to ride bus 540" he said then Fiona lifted her head and smiled " really that's my bus too" " oh that is great wanna sit with me? " Fiona nodded and walked with the rest of the kids to the busses. Jared and Fiona got on their bus and sat down in a seat together. The whole bus ride home they both talked about each other and how their lives at home where. When it got to Fiona's stop she got up " well this is my stop " she said " oh it's mine too" Jared said and they both got off " you live in this neighborhood? " she asked and he nodded before pointing at a house " that's where I live " he said " oh wow I live across the road from you that's my house where my aunts standing " she said and pointed to it " I just moved here a few days ago we should definitely hang out sometime " he said and hugged her. Fiona hugged him back and smiled " yea definitely maybe I can ask my dad if i can go over to your place after school tomorrow" she said and he nodded " that would be great I can ask my mom if you can " he said " Jared come on honey mommy has a snack for you " his mom said " Fiona get inside and put your stuff up " she said " coming " both of the kids said. After they said goodbye Fiona went inside " hey sweetie who was that boy " Aunt Sarah said before taking Fiona's backpack and lunchbox " his names Jared he's my best friend I made at school" " awww that's sweet honey now lets get to the car because we are gonna stop by and see your dad then we are gonna go grocery shopping " Sarah said. Fiona got excited as she loved going grocery shopping so they got in the car and drove off.
