"He...hello?"
"Ms Shivam please come up to level 19 "
Before she could say anything, the call was cut off."Fuck... I'm screwed" Ayana sighed putting down the phone.
"Was that the boss?" Lizzie asked curiously.
"I think so...he asked me to go to his office. Don't wait up for me Liz. I'll see you tomorrow"
"Are you sure? I can wait."
"It's fine...you should go or else Ed will start crying. Wish me luck" with that Ayana took a deep breath and walked towards the elevator.
"Good luck Aya! Call me later!" Liz shouted. She fixed herself a bit looking at her reflection on the elevator door. She needed to look innocent. Her palms were sweaty. After what felt like a hundred years, the elevator dinged. Walking out of the elevator towards a big wooden door, she read the sign 'CEO' written in gold. Her heart was pounding as she walked pass his assistant's desk which was now empty. Taking a really deep breath she knocked on the door ever so slightly. Hoping that he didn't hear.
"Come in" a stern voice came from the other side of the door. God, just the voice made her want to pee her pants. She slowly pushed through the door and stepped inside. Her eyes were glued to the floor. After a solid minute he finally spoke. "Ms Shivam please take a seat". She finally looked up at her boss expecting to see an old white man.
But FUCKING HELL ! What she saw made her jaw drop.
This man looked like a Greek god. His long dark blonde locks were brushed backwards neatly. His cheeks were covered in beard and his ocean blue eyes were staring at her. This man looked so hot when he is pissed. The anger on his face turned her on. She could quite literally feel something warm between her legs. It definitely wasn't pee.
He narrowed his eyes at her, leaning back on his seat. That's when she realized. Fuck. She have been shamelessly checking out her boss! She must have looked so stupid with her mouth wide open. She quickly clamped her mouth shut and walked towards his desk and took a seat clearing her throat. Her eyes were fixed on her lap.
"You know Ms Shivam, I really don't have time for this. What do you have to say for yourself?"
Excuse me, what?! Now it's her turn to be pissed.
She took a quick look at the name plate on his desk before speaking which he definitely didn't miss. "I'm sorry for wasting your time...Mr Rogers. But, your cousin really needs to learn some workplace etiquette" her eyes were fixed on his.
Ooh attitude.
A small smirk formed on his lips. He was intrigued.
He scoffed in disbelief "You've been working here for six months and you don't even know your boss's name". It was more of a statement than a question.
"Well, I've been working for you for six months and you don't even know I existed" she wasn't planning on backing down anytime soon. He rested his chin on his fingers with his elbow on the armrest as he looked at her through his lashes. HOLY COW! Ayana's breathing picked up but she played it cool.
"What happened Ms Shivam?" he asked sighing.
"I was minding my own business when he creeped up on me and touched me inappropriately". Ayana spoke quickly.
"What happened after that?"
"I punched him....." she mumbled under her breath.
"And after that?"
"I threw something at him and he dodged it. Only because he was coming towards me and I was scared" Ayana quickly justified. He needed to know that none of this was her fault.
Taking a deep breath he leaned towards the desk linking his fingers on the table. "So, what punishment should I give you?"
The audacity of this man.
Feeling her ears heat up in anger "Punishment? Kinky are we" she said sarcastically.
He glared at her "I just fired two people today Ms Shivam and I really don't want you to be next. Clearly Brad isn't the only one who needs to learn workplace etiquette".
Embarrassed, Ayana replied "Alright, I'm sorry. It's just that I don't understand why I'm being punished for something that wasn't my fault."
"Well that 'something' that you threw at him was a twenty thousand dollar worth piece" he stated.
"What?! That costs twenty thousand dollars?!" Ayana's eyes went wide. "Mr Rogers I didn't know, I swear. I was just trying to defend myself. I'm ready for a punishment. Just please don't fire me" she pleaded.
"Ahh, so you can be polite..." he said flashing her an evil smirk.
Ugh asshole.
"Hummm...let's see" he opened up her file and started scanning through it as she sat there awkwardly waiting for her punishment. "Alright, you'll be my assistant effective Monday" he said clapping his hands together.
"Erm your assistant? My punishment is that I'm getting promoted?" she asked raising her brows.
"Well if you must know, I fired my assistant today for getting my coffee wrong" he said cockily crossing his arms across his chest leaning back on his seat.
Yeah that sounds about right.
"And the other person..." Ayana asked.
"Brad" he said casually. "He won't bother you anymore"
Ayana was shocked. He didn't hesitate to fire his cousin. That only meant one thing, she was in deep shit.
"You may leave Ms Shivam. I hope to see you arrive on time on Monday" he said with his eyes fixed on the computer screen his brows furrowed. Ayana studied his face. How is it even possible for someone to look like that?! God definitely has his favorites huh.
He looked at her with his eyebrows raised, unamused. Ayana quickly excused herself. Get a grip girl! She got on a cab and headed straight to Ed and Lizzie's place.
~
Knock! Lizzie! Knock!"How can I help you?" Ed asked playfully.
"Not now Ed ..." Ayana said pushing pass him and walking inside.
"Hey Aya, what happened? Oh my god he fired you didn't he?" Lizzie asked panicking."Lizzie! You missed out THE most important part!"
Lizzie stood there completely lost.
"You did not tell me that our boss was sculpted by the gods. Now thanks to you I made a fool of myself" Ayana paced."I didn't?" Lizzie asked tilting her head.
"Aren't we all? You know sculpted by the gods...?" Ed asked chiming in and earning a death glare from Ayana."So were you fired?" Lizzie asked.
"No...not exactly. I might be in the long run though" Ayana mumbled.
"Details...Aya" Lizzie rolled her eyes.
Sitting down on the couch with a sigh Ayana replied "He gave me a promotion. To be his new assistant"
"Isn't that a good thing?" Ed waved his hand."Nope. He has had four assistants in the last year. Two of them took off running" Lizzie explained.
"Oooo. Well, enjoy the view while it lasts. He's your type anyway" Ed patted her shoulder.
"How would you know? You've never met him?" Ayana asked raising her brow.
"Well he's old isn't he?" he asked with a sly smirk.
"Somewhere around 33...34" Lizzie shrugged.
"Perfect for Aya" Ed finished.
Ayana rolled her eyes at them.
Ayana spent the rest of the week finishing up her tasks and handing everything over to Lizzie. She was sad to leave her colleagues. She was good at what she did and to leave it all and start from scratch wasn't something she was excited about.
