OK. So I don't know if you know, but I'm a Palestinian refugee 🇵🇸 living in Lebanon 🇱🇧 in one of the camps.
A camp for the Palestinian refugees is a land rented by UNRWA from the country where the Palestinians got refuge in, for 99 years.
Anyway, so I live in a camp and like every human being in the world, I would want to buy some stuff for me or for the house or gifts or whatever, during the epidemic especially, some referred to the delivery services and cash of delivery like myself.
Now the issue is, for some odd reason, most if not all the delivery drivers and companies refuse to go inside the camp.
It's like the camp is a dangerous forest or something, I don't know. Some don't come inside because they are afraid, acting like the place is a terrorists headquarter, or like you know those bad MC people you read about in Wattpad stories.
I feel like I'm some kind of a zombie or a vampire or something. So they get next to the camp, and tell you to meet with them there, which means outside the camp and it's a good distance by foot.
And on top of that when I tell them to call at least half an hour before they arrive next to the camp, so I can reach them on time, it's like I'm talking to a deaf ear. Seriously. And not just that, while I'm on my way they start to blow my phone up, and sending threats that if I get more late that they'll leave with my cargo and get back to wherever their company is, which can be outside of the city.
But.. Here's the catch, when I get to them, they become those humble and well mannered persons with good heart, guess why is that!
I'll tell you in a minute. But let me first tell you about the last delivery who did come inside the camp which was a miracle.
I asked for a shoes cabin, and this guy when I was talking to him on whatsapp to describe the address to him, he was rude, but then I noticed that he referred to me as a guy and not a girl, so I corrected him, and he turned into a nice man.
Anyway when he told me by himself that he's welling to get inside the camp, I was shocked.
And then when he noticed I was alone with no-one to help me carry the cabin, he offered to help and to deliver it by foot to my house, another shock. So I told him you are the first guy to ever accept to come inside the camp, and he said: if you were a man or a guy, I wouldn't have done it. Wow.Anyway back to why the other deliverymen turn nice and gentlemen once they see me, it's because I'm a person with disabilities and they feel ashamed for pushing to walk fast to meet them and also, pity, the worst thing any person can experience.
Flash news bodies, we don't have to be with disabilities to be nice to us and treat us with respect and like humans and enter our territories.
The camp and the Palestinian people are decent people and a great cause and a fight in their bones, we don't want any body's bity. Just respect.
