*ring......ring.......ring......*

Hello? I said into my cell phone. I had been woken up to the new ringtone I bought a few weeks ago. Now the tune was stuck in my head.

* hey baby, tell me something lady, I gotta know what's up I gotta know it right now...SAY SOMETHING IF YOU'RE FEELIN THE VIBE! SAY SOMETHING, BABY DON'T BE SO SHY*

"Hey there Hun, you behaving?" Said my grandma on the other line. Sometimes I wondered why she even bothered calling, she lived 20 feet from me. But I didn't mind. She was hilarious and fun to talk to on the phone, if she wasn't screaming at her overweight cat.

" Of course I am! Why wouldn't I be?"

"I'm not so sure...so listen, I have a question!"

"Alright.... Go ahead" I said. She probably needed me to bring her over some bread or take the cat and throw it in a lake.

"Well you know how great grandma was from Texas? Well I got in touch with a friend of her's. well not her's, they're probably all dead....Anyways, I'm going down for a wedding next week, grandpa won't come. Do you want to ask your mom if you can go?"

Texas. Yes! I absolutely loved taking road trips with my grandma! Last year, we rented a fancy ruby red convertable and drove up to Massachusetts over spring break. It kind of seemed as though it would be a new tradition.. I have always wanted to go to Texas, it seems so...so....relaxed. I'm going to get to see my best friend who moved 5 years ago.

"I don't really care what she says! I'll go!" I screamed.

"Now Leigh, ask her! Better yet, come on over for dinner at 6 and we'll talk about it okay? Another road trip for Leigh and grandma! WHOOOOO!" The line went dead. I'm going to Texas. Next week. For a wedding. But I can't wait to see Sam! I miss her so much.

Texas. Look out, Leigh and grandma are coming for ya!

LATER THAT NIGHT:

"Hey pudge!" I stroked my grandma's cat as I walked in the door. I smelled something burning when I walked into the kitchen. Of course. Expect nothing less from my grandma. The spaghetti pot was overflowing with black sauce.

"I'll order some take out..." I said grabbing my phone. My grandma nodded and fumbled with the newly fried pot. I stared for a moment at my background... Austin Mahone. Yes I will admit, I was slightly obsessed. Ever since 2010 when my friend and I were scouting for cute boys in YouTube, I was in love. I actually had sent him a picture for his wall. It was probably behind all of the other ones. I wasn't creative, nor popular at all. My everyday school attire was jeans, boots, and a shirt. I never really thought of myself as pretty. Not even average. Just another girl fading into the background.

I had long brown hair and hazel-ish brown eyes. I had long thick eyelashes that stood out extremely. I had few freckles lining the harsh cheek bones that set in my face, usually pale pink with blush.

I continued to dial and ordered dinner for us. Soon enough the guy was at the front door with our pizza. I grabbed it and gave him a tip, then shut the door on his face. I was never not hungry. I wasn't plump, actually quite small for my age, but that didn't stop me. I grabbed a slice and sat down on the window seat watching my mom and grandma starte at each other.

"So where are you two headed this time?" My mom asked in between bites. My grandma looked at me with a grin and started talking.

"Oh just to Texas! Actually, for 2 weeks! It's spring break Jess, a tradition with Leigh and myself. She'll be fine!" I was extremely excited. Although my grandma hasn't given me too many details. I grabbed my Pepsi and inerchanged my soda and pizza for a minute or two.

"You know I need more details than that mom." My mom said sternly.

"We leave Saturday at 9:00 am. Michelle said she would pick us up from the airport, and then I would have her drop us off at our hotel, hang out until Wednesday when the wedding is and leave on Sunday! Simple as that!" She said with a wink. I knew I was going and so did she.

"Whatever" my mom said,"Try not to lose her." She exclaimed pointing to me. I smiled and threw my plate in the trash. I picked up her cat and listened to them talk about my aunt and uncle. I got bored real fast. I dropped the cat and walked 20 feet to my house.

Texas. Wow. I grabbed my phone and immediately texted Sam. I grabbed my suitcase and started packing. Just a few days!!! Texas, here I come!

*ew this is so short. sowwy*
