Chloe's POV

After the show ends and the actors change, we go backstage. Reyna pushes the door open and we plop down on the couch in the dressing room that Elle and Taylor share. The walls are off-white and covered with fan art. There's a long desk against the wall with mirrors and two folding chairs. The desk is cluttered with makeup products and watercolours. In the middle, there is a bouquet of orchids in a vase. "An opening night present." Taylor explains, wiping her face with a makeup wipe. The door opens and Elle walks in.

"Reyna?" Elle asks. "Are you ready to go?"

"Yup!" Reyna replies, hopping up from the couch. She gives me an apologetic look. "I have school tomorrow, so I have to go to bed."

"Reyna is in her senior year of high school." Elle explains.

"And I have a big test tomorrow that I need to pass! I really need the grades for university." She tells me. "I wanna be a doctor."

"Like Dr. Levinson?" I ask, wide eyed. Dr. Levinson is nice but she gave me a shot. I hate shots. They make my arm hurt.

"Exactly!" Reyna says. I back up a bit, hearing this. Reyna laughs. "Don't worry, silly! I'm not gonna give you a needle!"

"We should probably get going, too." Taylor says. "It's way too late for Chloe to be going to sleep."

"Aww." I frown, disappointed, as we walk into the lights and sounds of Times Square at night.

"Cheer up, Clo-clo!" Reyna says. "I'll see you tomorrow!"

"Promise?" I wonder.

"Promise." She assures me, hooking our pinkies.

We get to a corner and Reyna and Elle go one way while me and Taylor go the other. I hold Taylor's hand as I walk down the street, taking everything in. We stop in front of a tall silver building. "Wow." I say, looking up. Taylor leads me inside. I gasp. It's beautiful inside. The walls are brown. On one side, there is a big mirror and a little cushioned bench. On the other, there's a desk with a man with a funny mustache behind it.

"Hey, Tom!" Taylor waves to the mustache dude.

"Good evening!" He says. "Who's this young lady with you?"

I hide behind Taylor, feeling shy. "This is Chloe." She explains. "My foster daughter."

"Nice to meet you!" Tom tells me. He waves goodbye as we step into the elevator. Taylor presses the 7 button.

"I'm on the seventh floor." She says. Once the elevator stops, we walk until Taylor stops at a door. Room 704. She opens the door. Inside there is a big room with floor to ceiling windows and a grey carpet. There are couches around a coffee table, facing a tv. Throughout the living room there are lamps and plants. The walls have some art on them. Behind the living room, there is a table and chairs and a kitchen. Taylor leads me to a door and opens it. There's a twin bed, a lamp, a desk, and a window. There's also a bathroom and closet. "This is the guest room." She tells me. "We can redecorate it, though."

I look up at her, nervously. "I don't have any pajamas."

"Well, I guess we'll just have to take you shopping!" Taylor says, smiling. "I had Elle go get you some stuff after the show, while we were hanging out in my dressing room, so you can wear those for tonight." She held up a pair of red pajamas with white stars.

"I love them!" I say. She leaves and I put them on, grinning at myself in the mirror. I think I'm gonna like it here.
