THE END OF THE DAY WAS FINALLY HERE. Why did things always seem to go by slower when you had something to look forward to? Addie wasn't complaining because it was a really good day, but after Steve talked her into it, she decided that she was excited for the party later that night.

"Addie wait up!" She turned around to see Billy walking towards her.

"Hi," she smiled, still unsure of why she felt so nervous around him.

"You, uh, going to that party later?"

"Yeah, I was unsure but my friends talked me into it."

Billy gave her a small smile. "Is it too soon to ask if I can pick you up tonight?"

"Okay," Addie felt the butterflies return to her stomach. After she gave Billy her address, he said he'd be by to pick her up at 7:30.

After they went their separate ways, Addie headed over to the junior high, where Will and Mike were waiting for her.

"Can Mike come over and work on homework?" Will asked as she approached the 2 boys.

"Did you ask your parents?" Addie raised an eyebrow, pretty sure she already knew the answer.

"No, but... NANCY!" They all turned to see Nancy and Steve walking towards them. "Can I go over to Will's house for homework?"

"Why didn't you ask mom or dad this morning?"

"Because I didn't think of it. Can I?"

"Fine but call the house when you get there just to let them know. Is that okay?" Nancy asked the last part to Addie.

"Oh it's fine, we love having him over!" Addie reached over and ruffled Mike's hair, causing him to turn a little red. The younger Wheeler had a crush on Addie when he was in elementary school.

"Alright boys, let's go." They all headed to the high school parking lot, where Addie and Steve parked next to each other.

"You're going to the party tonight right?" Nancy asked Addie.

"I almost forgot, Billy asked if he could pick me up and take me so I won't need a ride anymore."

Steve started to say something in protest, but not before Nancy elbowed him.

"I think that's so cute! This'll be like a first date." Nancy smiled, and Addie couldn't have been more grateful, because she was pretty sure she knew what Steve was going to say. "We'll meet you there then!"
