"You should try out for the team!" she said to her friend, voice light and airy as if she had no troubles in the world.
"I'm not any good," replied the short male. "I just like to play around, that's all."
"But you're a really good setter. That's gotta count for something."
Although he didn't want to admit it, he was indeed, a good setter. Some might even say great. But not him.
"You say that now, but I doubt I'll be any good on court. I'll choke, you know I will."
"No, you won't. I believe in you." Kenma loved hearing this, loved hearing Y/n gas him up like this. It filled his self-confidence, but also his ego.
It filled his ego a lot.
"Just try out. If you don't make it, it's okay! I won't think any less of you, and we can still play together. How about it?"
The faux blonde pretended to think it over for a minute. He already had his answer ready. The second she brought it up, he decided he would do whatever she wanted him to. He always listened to her.
Always.
"Okay, I'll try out."
"Great."
