The full moon shone down on me as I sat cross legged on the hardwood deck with my phone in my hands. Damn, why couldn't there be better service out here! I only want to check fucking facebook, I mean it's not like I could use Aunt Jalena's laptop to get online. She had that thing lock up tighter than a max security prison.

I need some access to the world back home, I can't believe I'm saying this, but right now I actually miss my crazy, ex-girlfriend's texts. I just need to talk to someone to bear me back to Earth, because if I go one more day out here with out posting at least something small to Facebook I will fucking go insane. I mean I'm so out of it my mind is telling me I'm seeing a damn mermaid in the water every day and I have three words for you. Mermaids. Don't. Exist.

I heard a splash behind the boat while I was trying to hack my aunt's wifi password. Jumping up I silently crept around the corner of the steering thing and looked out at the water. Ripples circled around about five feet off the back of the boat. What was happening out here.

I padded to the railing and looked down at the blue black water. I stood there and looked at the water as the full moon bounced around on the surface as waves rippled under the boat. I crept down the steps and made sure my aunt was still asleep in her little bedroom across from mine.

Seeing my aunt peacefully dreaming in her room I walked back up the stairs and checked the time on my phone. 1:09 am. Why the hell am I still up?! I walked to the back of the boat once again and looked for the sign of whatever creature made the ripples in the water.

I heard a small splash that sounded like someone coming up from the water after diving down deep and popping back up. I peeked around the corner and saw the silhouette of a girl against the full moon. I eased around the corner as the girl lifted her head and the moon shone down on the soaking wet, fiery red hair that was not the least bit darkened from the water.

From where I was it looked as though the girl's torso was bare but her hair could hide the straps to a bikini of some kind. The girl looked up at the moon and the light reflected off soft, lightly tanned skin. Her eyes were closed like she was bathing in the light of the bright moon.

I dropped my phone on the deck and her eyes shot open. Bright saphire eyes turned and stared at me, widening in surprise as she saw me standing on the deck. She didn't hide, she just drifted down into the water out of view.

I started to call to her, but I kept myself in check, knowing that if I made a sound I could possibly wake my aunt. Dropping my phone was bad enough. I slipped the phone into my pocket and tip-toed down the steps, pausing outside my aunt's door as I made sure that her quiet snores still drifted through the door.

Good, she's still asleep. I walked into my room and opened up the tiny window. I don't know why I did it because if even a small wave bigger than about four feet would dowse me in water. I didn't care. I looked out at the water trying to will the beautiful girl to reappear. I wasn't that lucky.

I laid down on the bed and closed my eyes bathing in the moonlight as the girl had. I tried to forget her, I really did, but the girl's saphire eyes hung in front of my eyes whether they were opened or closed.
