It had been a week since I'd last seen Nixie and now it was midnight and I was floating in the water near the boat. The moonlight shone on the water dancing through the waves as I laid in the same innertube I'd been on my last encounter with Nixie. I knew my aunt was still fast asleep because no noise sounded in the boat aside from the gentle sloshing sound accompanied by waves gently crashing on the boat's side. I was only in the water hoping to get a glimpse of the vibrant red hair that signified Nixie's prescence, I didn't want to scare her away so I stayed calmly floating in my tube just waiting to see if she would surface.

When Nixie's head surfaced from the water about ten minutes later I was once again shocked at her beauty. Her long, flaming red hair never seemed to be wet just flowed the same as it would dry; her beautiful eyes seemed to shine even brighter in the light of the full moon. I couldn't help but be in awe at the beautiful creature in front of me that I honestly couldn't believe existed.

"Hello, Troy." Nixie said her voice soft and gentle like bells.

"H-hi, Nixie. I didn't know if I'd see you again.." I said watching her as she slightly bobbed up and down in the gentle surf.

"I promised you I'd come back, Troy, I always keep my word." She said sounding slightly offended that I would assume that she would break her promise.

"No! That's not what I meant, I swear, it's just the fishing has been heavy this past week and I thought it might have scared you away." I said blushing and hoping that she wouldn't notice the redness of my skin despite the light of the full moon.

"I know, I'm just teasing you!" She said as her eyes lightened again and her face lit up in a big smile.

"Oh, thank God, I didn't want you mad at me!" I said relief flooding over me as the fear that I had scared her away dissapated.

"Of course not, Troy, now I would like to show you something amazing. Would you accompany me, under the sea?" She said as a playful smile lit up her face and a twinkling gleam made her eyes sparkle even more.

"Um, as much as I would love to there is one slight problem with that, Nixie. I'm not a mermaid, er well merman or whatever the terminology is. I'm just normal seventeen year old city kid, not half fish." I said looking at her as if she had lost her ever loving mind.

Not saying anything a tanned hand darted out from below the water and latched onto my wrist dragging me from the inner tube and below the surface of the ocean, and of course I freaked. I tried helplessly to pull my hand from Nixie's as she barreled farther down below the surface carrying me with her screaming as I was forced farther away from my only source of air, then I noticed something. I was breathing. Then I noticed something else, I was breathing underwater!
