____________________________________" Let's play, let's play" I would shout in excitement to see Johnny again.
Johnny was a childhood best friend, he was a lot like a brother, he had the perfect facial structure. His nose, his lips, his jaw and every contour of his face was just perfect. Johnny was the only child of a single mother and they lived a simply live.

It was always raining heavily in the month of July, you could see me jump-walking playfully heading to the school bus waiting for me.
What could spoil the joy I was having on a rainy Friday.Everyone knows Fridays are short days at school, when you get to go home earlier than other days on a happy note.
From the look on the sky it was still cloudy, ready to pour down more, dark clouds loomed over the school building.
I jumped-walked enjoying the splish-splash sounds my shoes made against water on the floor."Is anyone here?" I asked a boy who looked a little younger than I was.
"Mmm, noo" he replied sluggishly. To me it was an opportunity, not everyone gets the chance to sit close to the window.
I got seated, relaxed and ready to go home. I let out a sigh at the comfortable view from that angle. The houses and how they looked alike(estate houses), the well trimmed grasses, the other pupils who walked home, the visible rain drops..."Vera you are on my spot" I could recognize Lily's voice anytime, anywhere
I looked up to see a figure that had hands on her waist, with a grumpy look.
"No one was here when I came" I replied as camly as possible, though I was raging inside
"Just stand up it's my spot" she answered nonchalantly.
"But there are other seats, pleeaassee" I literarily pleaded.
I was'nt in the mood for noise and also not ready to stand.
"I want to stay here Vera" I hesitated for a while in hopes she will give up.
"Am going to report you" she said ready to take actions.
Well she got me at that point, I took my things and moved.Lily was a low-key bully who didn't like me from the beginning. She was one of the top best pupils then( I mean financially), she was pretty with an intimidating body, which she would always use to her advantage.
Now imagine when a child knows she is intimidating, and uses it to dominate over others, that was Lily in summary.
My countenance changed from the moments I moved, you could see the sad look on my face and also the devilish smirk on Lily's face.
For those reasons, the ride was getting quite irritating to top it with the slow annoying rhymes being played in the background like we were bunch of toddlers....round round round all day
long.
hot crunch buns
hot crunch buns
one a penny two a penny
hot crunch buns
if you have no daughter...It then struck me.
I had a remained snack in my lunch pack that I saved for later.
It wasn't an actual buns but now it served as one.
If it food, then my vibe is back.
I ate my snack with a genuine smile enjoying the rhyme that went along....give it to your son
one a penny, two a penny
hot crunch buns.____________________________________
Before I realized it, we we're right in front of my tall walls and big gates. I picked my bag and waited for the signal to drop down.
If I should fast forward, I remember sometimes in high school when I will get really angry for some reasons and be like,
"I really did prefer remaining at school than coming back here"
My Mum will get really really mad at me, and for sure, I did face the consequences.
Back home."Vera I came back before you"
Johnny will always say, it a common sense that he will get home before me, he didn't have to ride on a school bus filled with children heading different destinations, but you know, children's mentality.
"Let's play, let's play", I screamed without thinking.
"No play today," whaat, I agree, parents were fun killers most of the times.
"But why, it's a Friday"
"Yes I know, but Uncle Tee has a lot of work to do today in the house. Have you even greeted him?"
"No"
"Oya go and meet him"
"Uncle Tee!" I called towards his direction. Now Uncle Tee was an electrician, he comes around to fix electrical appliances for us, most times for free so he was more like a family. Uncle Tee was around his early twenties I guess, hustling to earn a living, we trusted him, took him in as a family.
"Vera, am glad you are back look, I got biscuits for you". It was a usual thing for Uncle Tee to get things for me whenever he comes around, and that made us bond well.
Who doesn't like good thing.
"Have you said thank you?" Mum would always remind me
"Thank you Uncle Tee""Johnny look what Uncle Tee got for me, let's share." Fondling with the nylon bag, Johnny leaned forward to take a look.
"Uncle Tee always get things for you" he said more like a question.
"Yes, he is my friend" I replied proudly.
"Remember what Mummy So says about boys"
I didn't take him serious.
"But you are a boy, Uncle Tee is my uncle, she was talking about all this other boys"
"Hmm okay o" he replied not looking satisfied. It was obvious Johnny wasn't comfortable with Uncle Tee.
Well just like promised
