Song of the chapter; Mia & Sebastians Theme

Why did I come up here? I should have just tracked down a few cougars and we would be satisfied for at least a few months.

They are much easier to track when snow doesn't constantly cover their tracks, and it is a lot less dangerous. I'm not familiar with the mountains, nor am I any more familiar with what exactly I am hunting.

I haven't had any water today, and delta is becoming stiff from the cold. the air is bitter. My face is cracking and red from the wind crawling over it. Each breath I exhale, fog is released. Same for the big fella trotting underneath me. I wonder where Darren is. If he's found a job or a place to stay.

My fiancé, Darren, insisted on hunting a bear for us both to last a few days while he went to find jobs in Strawberry. Said the bear would make good meat as well as good money, and there was a big one crawling around the mountains.

He is quite stubborn, and very honest. He speaks his mind, that's for sure. Makes himself seem like the one providing. Which he is in some ways, although I am the one doing the dirty work such as hunting, taming, fishing, and hunting wild bears, as you can see.

At the start of our relationship, we were just teenagers. It was the world against us. I had everything I ever wanted.

But over time I've just become sad, or bored? I love him. But I've just lost myself. It feels like I'm dragging myself along. Or he is dragging me along? I know he loves me, he assures me of it all the time.

We had been jumping from place to place, spent a long time in Annesburg, although we somehow ended up in the west.

While I was away, he would stay at hotels or friends places, working at the saloon. Although he probably spent more money at the saloon than he actually made there.

The storm is getting worse. Delta is grunting and her joints are creaking trying to bring each step over the deepening snow.

I'm practically numb now and can't see three feet in front of me, There's no point moving further, if I can't see three feet in front of me, how was I supposed to hunt a wild bear?

"How bout we camp the night?" Now realising how weird it is asking a horse a question. Although she lets out a grunt as though to reply enthusiastically about resting.

She is freezing, she's shuddering and you can feel the vibrations. She's so stiff, I feel guilty for forcing her this far.

I bring delta to a halt and direct her towards a tree by tugging the rains to the left. Delta throats a large neigh before collapsing.

The world spins as my eyes catch up with the sudden movement. My head collides with the ground, although thank god for the fresh snow or I would have surely been knocked out.

As I attempt to stand, my right leg won't budge. I look towards the leg that is trapped and find it being crushed by Delta's body.

She is a large animal, especially after carrying so many carcasses as well as her rider. So the bones in my leg are going to shatter if I don't get her off soon.

The leg that is trapped is no longer numb and feels as though it is burning up, the snow did cushion it, hence why I didn't feel it at first, but now it is compact and it's technically my leg between Deltas body and solid ice. The immense pressure swimming through my calf and thigh are worse than getting shot.

You see, when you get shot, you can still get away, although when your getting crushed, there is almost no escape.

Although it's most likely the cold that is making it much worse and making it burn up much more than it actually is.
