The Maze Runner || Group B

Chapter 16

"She's gone? What do you mean she's gone?" Sonya spoke quite baffled.

"This morning, I went to check on her, not there. We've checked everywhere, Harriet's hoping you'd find her in the maze," Yuko said.

Yuko paused scanned around her and lowered voice, "I think she's quite relieved, I think most girls thought she was bad news."

Sonya nodded and shoved a spoonful a mouthful of mashed potato's, "Well I fo know dat Hawiett fidn't like her," Sonya said with chunks of potato flying everywhere.

"How many times do I have to tell you to sallow before you speak!" Yuko squealed.

"Sorry, uh bad habits."

They both continued eating in silence until Harriet joined them and dropped her food on the table.

"No sign of Melisia?" Sonya asked.

"No, nowhere, no one even saw her," Harriet said, clearly aggravated.

"Do you reckon she's dead?" Yuko said with her voice lowered.

Harriet shook her head.

"Mayfe - opps, shorry" Sonya quickly swallowed and continued "maybe she was a part of the watchers, sent here to do something."

"You know she and that Shauna girl were close, they didn't know each other that long," Yuko whispered.

"Yeah!" Sonya agreed enthusiastically.

Harriet didn't seem to think so happily on the subject though. Sonya took notice and changed the subject, "I heard we got a newbie today, haven't even seen her! What's her name again?"

"Rachel, I got Peru to take care of her, since I was too busy investigating Mel's disappearance.  On top of that Beth and Shauna both awoke today from the changing. That reminds me, you are to check on them at once when you have finished your meal," Harriet said.

"Yes sir," Yuko said under her breath so only herself and Sonya could hear, both chuckled quietly.

"Do you think this is funny?" Harriet spat out.

Sonya and Yuko both looked down at their knees, suppressing themselves to laugh out loud or smile. Harriet grunted, "Sonya you are to give Rachel the tour tomorrow, I'll apologize to everyone about tonight's bonfire not being held."

Yuko stood up and left to check on Shauna and Beth, leaving just Sonya and Harriet.

"Yuko said you were relieved that Melisia is now gone," Sonya said.

"I was, at first. But, I don't know, I thought maybe she could have been our chance to get out," Harriet said, playing with her food.

"I don't think she could've escaped herself, I think something came and got her," Harriet continued.

"So you definitely think she's still alive?" Sonya asked.

"Yeah, why would she be dead, she wouldn't be able to get into the maze at night. She must have been taken or betrayed all of us and left when she figured out how to get out," said Harriet.

"Well it sounds like she's alive an out, in less than a month," huffed Sonya, "she must be a lucky one."

uh.. yeah.. sorry for the late and short update, been quite busy but at least I updated, I am going to try and motivate myself to update sooner next time. 

ALSO, I have plans but I can keep writing about the maze and delay the scorch, or I can write about the scorch sooner? What do you guys think?
