Harry Styles

IT HAPPENED AGAIN.

The night before, they had gotten into an argument again. The two men were never one to argue with each other unless it was about one thing. His brother.

A few days might have gone by, but Louis' opinion on his brother never wavered. No matter how hard Harry tried to change it. And Edward wasn't trying on his part to change anything. It was almost like neither one of them cared, and only Harry wanted to try to keep things civil. But Edward was content on being who he was, and Louis was fine with never speaking to Edward one-on-one. So that left Harry in the middle.

The argument that happened the night before was still fresh in his mind. It had started off as a normal workday and ended with Louis getting aggravated over the tight spaces and Edward being out in the living room area. Even though he was there every night, it seemed that last night was finally his breaking point.

"Why is he always there?" Louis asked as they got settled in his room.

All three men enjoyed a silent dinner and then the two of them went into his room while Edward got comfortable on the couch like he always did. And so far, Louis respected that and was polite enough to wish him a good night, but tonight he seemed aggravated and had enough of seeing Edward outside.

"He lives here." Harry said.

"About that." Louis said, avoiding his eye. "How much longer will he be staying here?"

Harry got onto the bed and leaned his back onto the headboard. "As long as he wants."

There was no response from the other man beyond the stifled sigh that escaped. Harry could already sense it coming, but still felt himself asking. "What?"

"Nothing." Louis quickly said.

"You wanted to say something, so say it." Harry insisted.

"I just think he should be getting settled somewhere else."

"Don't start, Louis."

"I'm not, but I'm just saying-" Louis started to say but was quickly interrupted by an annoyed Harry.

"Well, don't." Harry harshly said. "He will be staying here for as long as he wants."

There was a silence after he said that. During that silence, Louis got comfortable in the bed next to him and leaned his head against the headboard. But when he spoke, he spoke with such a soft whisper that Harry almost didn't hear him.

"Why do you care about his feelings more than mine?" Louis asked.

"I don't, Louis."

"Well, it seems like you do." He nodded to himself. "It seems like you are so quick to defend him when you haven't even thought about if he is the problem."

Harry turned over in the bed. "My brother is not the problem."

"How are you so sure?"

"Because I know him." Harry muttered. "Something you have decided not to do."

Louis softly sighed. "All I'm saying is, just hear both sides before you start defending him. Is that too much to ask?"

And it turned out, when it came to his brother, it was too much to ask.

LOUIS WAS ALONE when Harry spotted him.

He wasn't doing much but dusting in-between books that seemed to need it. Or at least, in his eyes they did. He was so focused on that, that he didn't even notice Harry coming up behind him until they were back to chest.

"What are you doing?" He squeaked.

He glanced over at the newly dusted bookshelves. "I just wanted to make sure you didn't miss a spot." He placed a finger over one of the shelves and then examined his finger. "You're good."

"Of course, I am." Louis said with confidence. He turned around so they were eye to eye. "Did you need something?"

"I wanted to ask if you wanted to have dinner with me tonight."

"Dinner?" Louis asked.

Harry nodded. "It would just be the two of us, because Edward wanted to go somewhere later. I wanted to make dinner for the two of us as an apology for the other night."

Something like appreciation and admiration was shining in his eyes. "I would like that."

"Good." Harry smiled. "It's a date then."

He smiled and walked out of the area with a little skip in his step.

Too bad it was the wrong twin who asked him.
