Maya stood behind Lucifer as his mother recalled the story of how she possessed the current body she was in.

"And that's when I started looking for you, son," Lucifer's mother finished. "At least I've managed to keep this flesh sack in one piece. It has not been easy. Quite a few of the male species have been eyeing me hungrily,"

"Welcome to LA," Maya muttered.

"Do humans eat their own?"

Maya flinched at the recollection of the cannibals she and her brothers had come across during one of their cases.

"Well, say something. Aren't you glad to see me?"

Maya inched towards a protective stance as she noticed Lucifer's mother still holding the knife that had killed the original host.

"I apologize for my human form, but...At least this one has supreme hindquarters,"

Lucifer picked the knife from his mother's hands and handed it to Maya "You're lying,"

"No, they're quite sturdy, feel it," Lucifer's mother placed her butt in Lucifer's face.

"I wasn't referring, nor will I ever refer to your butt, Mother...only Maya's,"

Maya quirked an eyebrow as Lucifer didn't address her by her last name.

"I simply don't believe your wounded bird story. You're the goddess of all creation!"

"Not anymore, unfortunately," Lucifer's mother admitted bitterly. "Now, I'm just trapped in this stinky human with the exceptional ass,"

Maya glanced and shrugged "She's not wrong,"

Lucifer glared at his mother as he poured himself another drink.

"I swear," Lucifer's mother continued "all I've done for three days is wander this cesspool, asking these vacuous cretins how to find you,"

Maya groaned when Lucifer went into a prayer position, she grabbed a bottle from behind the bar.

"What're you doing?"

"Calling Amenadiel...hopefully," Maya said bitterly.

"Oh, wonderful! He's here, too?"

"Yes." Lucifer admitted, "And he'll be the one taking you back to Hell, so..."

Lucifer's mother hit lucifer's hand to get him to stop "What?! Why?"

"Because you're dangerous and terrifying,"

"I promise you, I'm not here to hurt anyone,"

Maya snorted as she looked over at Lucifer "I see where you get it from,"

"Do you want to sleep on the couch?" Lucifer challenged.

"I'm sure Maze will help keep me warm," Maya teased.

"You have to believe me," Lucifer's mother interrupted the duo. "My entire focus has been on finding you, son,"

"So you can eviscerate me." Lucifer said "Got it,"

"No! We've wasted enough time being estranged. I'd do anything to rectify that now,"

"You sure you don't mean revenge there?" Lucifer scoffed.

"Lucifer. Your father put me in Hell. Not you. I know that,"

"Yes. But I was your warden,"

"Not by choice. We were both wronged,"

"There's the honey," Maya muttered.

"But you could've at least visited me,"

"There's the vinegar," Maya nodded as she took a drink.

Lucifer laughed sarcastically "I'm sorry. When Dad cast me out, who stood by and did nothing? Hint, it's a palindrome for 'mom',"

"Well, maybe, if you had talked to me in Hell, instead of sending your little demon torturer, I could've explained the whole thing," Lucifer's mother argued.

"You're right. You're right. But I'm here now. So, by all means, explain," Lucifer took a seat, pulling Maya into his lap.

Maya was a bit shocked, but feeling how fast his heart was racing, she knew it was merely to help calm him down.

"You wouldn't believe me," Lucifer's mother sighed, earning a snort from Maya. "I know how suspicious and untrusting you are,"

Maya stiffened as Lucifer's mother brushed a hand against his cheek.

"You don't know anything about me," Lucifer retorted.

"Lucifer." Lucifer's mother begged "I'm your mother,"

"Not for a very, very long time,"

"Well, I want to be now,"

Maya turned to watch Lucifer, his face remained stone cold, but his eyes were almost reflecting desperation.

"Then I'm going to need you to prove your little origin story to me," Lucifer said as he looked at Maya.

"We can retrace her steps," Maya suggested.

Lucifer nodded "If I don't find a trail of bloodshed and carnage, then perhaps I'll believe you,"

"Fine. We'll begin where I found the tiny spear in my neck," Lucifer's mother spat.

"Fine,"

"Hmm,"

"She's gonna need some clean clothes," Maya pointed out.

"Right," Lucifer sighed "Humans tend to frown at the sight of blood,"

"Yes." Lucifer's mother nodded "I've noticed,"

"Uh, just leave it, would you?" Lucifer grimaced as his mother bent down in the skimpy dress to pick up the door hanger. "Gosh." he looked at Maya "Perhaps we shouldn't have borrowed from Maze. Why couldn't she have borrowed some of your clothes?"

"Let's see mom in a skimpy dress or imagine your mother next time you and I have sex?" Maya questioned".

"Fair point,"

"Half my hide is exposed," Lucifer's mother complained. "Human attire's very impractical. They're morons, aren't they?"

"Human, right here," Maya reminded.

"So, you admit you revile them?" Lucifer asked.

"To revile them would be to care about them," Lucifer's mother said "which I do not,"

Maya decided to channel her frustration by looking around the room.

"Then all those rumors about why Dad sent you to Hell..." Lucifer noted "The plagues, the floods...They weren't you?"

"Well..." Lucifer's mother shrugged.

"Yeah. That's what I thought,"

"I was angry. But humans weren't the reason your father and I were fighting. At least, not then,"

"Uh, Lucifer?" Maya called out.

"Hmm?"

Lucifer and his mother walked over to where Maya was looking into another room.

"I think your mother left out a minor detail," Maya said as she looked over the man's dead body that was laid out on the bed, his neck slashed.

"Oh, dear," Lucifer's mother muttered when she saw the body.
