"Reeemus."
Remus ignored him.
"Moony, pleeease?"
"You don't even need my help," Remus says finally, because he knew Sirius would just keep bugging him. "Do your own work, Sirius."
"Yeah but I want to do it with you."
Remus made as if to massage his temples with a hand, but really he was trying to hide his blush. Sirius and Remus sat in the common room. Remus on one lounge while Sirius taking up an entire other one. It was late afternoon. James had Quidditch practice which Sirius apparently wasn't interested in. Which is somewhat strange, considering him and James love Quidditch. Peter was down in the library studying.
"Don't you want to be on the pitch with James?" Remus asked, he'd turned again to focus on his work.
Remus had actually done most of his homework and figured he could finish the rest, even though it wasn't due for another week.
Sirius could do all his in an hour or so. He just chose not to because it was boring and he had the attention span of a literal carrot.
Sirius was quiet and Remus thought he'd finally given him something to think about. But then he saw a shadow cast over him and a large body plonked down next to him. Remus made an 'oof' sound as Sirius made himself comfortable with his legs now off the side of *this* lounge and his head in Remus' lap.
Sirius grinned up at Remus. "Okay, I was lying and I have this nagging feeling that you know it. What can I say, I'm a genius. I could finish my work any time. But I could also play Quidditch with James any time. But so can you."
"I don't play Quidditch, Pads."
"And I don't tap dance. But that's beside the point. The point is . . . I'm sorry, I forgot where I was going with this." Sirius' eyebrows crossed in confusion as he tried to remember.
Remus laughed and pushed Sirius' head up off of his lap.
"Hey!" Sirius protested, as he was forced into a sitting position. "You're comfy," he pouted, "James would treat me better."
"Why don't you just marry him if you love him so much?" Remus said sarcastically.
"He has but fallen for another," he said dramatically. "I would never get a change to confess my undying love for him." Remus rolled his eyes, about to say something but Sirius continued. "We will never go ice skating as a couple or stare across a room at one another, stargazing, or spotting animals and shapes in clouds." He pretends to wipe away a tear and sniffed loudly, then holds a hand to his chest, over his heart. "It just- it wasn't meant to be."
"Is this why you are up here with me now?"
"What?" Sirius snapped back to the present and stared at Remus with wide eyes. "Why?"
"To sulk to me about your 'undying love' for James."
Sirius gasps, "It would never cross my mind to do such a thing, my dear Moony. How could you think so low of me?!"
Dispite himself Remus couldn't help smiling at his ridiculous friend.
Sirius smiles back, the joke was over.
"Well," Sirius said, "I'm clearly a genius anyway, so would you like me to help you with 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 homework instead, Mr Moony?"
Remus scoffs, "I can do my own work, thank you very much. And if I'm being honest I'm just bored. I've finished most of my work."
