Before Her Last Message

With each passing day, the private investigators of your dad were so close to finding you now that they focus to Tucson mainly.

You couldn't risk sitting around in case they suddenly turn up.

Upon arriving in a new town, you'd managed to find a place for you to spend the night but you needed to find somewhere that you needed to rent for a week because you had come into a decision that it was safest for you to keep moving.

There was no point in waiting around until they traced your move, it just made more sense to you to remained one step ahead at all times.

Looking around the Main Square, you headed towards one of the taxi bays to get a ride into one of the grocery store. After hailing one of the approaching taxis, you went to step into it when your eyes flickered towards the other side of the road.

There was just no way that they would find you so quickly.

And yet that didn't change the fact that Yeji with a butler as well stands on the other side of the road, her eyes instantly scanning the surrounding area. You recognized the look in her eyes - one that was determined and her next action just proved it.

In just a blink of an eye, another two men in a black suit showed up from behind you before one of them seize you by the arm and called out to their boss. Yeji kept her eyes on you then, she was smiling to show she won over you for once.

"Are you getting in or not?", the taxi driver suddenly asked, pulling your eyes away from your stepsister.

"Sorry", you apologized, shutting the door and stepping away from it, "I think I'll catch another one later"

"Suit yourself", he muttered before drawing away, not noticing you were actually being hold behind your back.

After shrugging out of the man's hold, you headed further down the road to the crossing and waited for the sign before walking to join Yeji in the sidewalk. As you draw closee towards her, you cast a cautious look at the black van behind her.

"Leave me alone", you ordered, sounding far more braver than you felt. She hesitated and you crossed yours arms, "Now"

"No, because you'd disappear again on our search", she pointed out bluntly and you didn't acknowledge that she had a point.

"I wonder why", you muttered dryly, and looked over at her, eyes lingering on her clenching fists.

She was reluctant to use violence against you, that much was obvious and you couldn't help but wonder if she was even capable of what you did to her brother or why she wasn't using her men to drag you inside that van by force.

Maybe she knew it was just a matter of time before you lost patience.

"Just what is it you want from me?", you simply demanded.

"You know why"

"Don't give me that paternal love bullshit!", you hissed before lowering your voice in order not to be heard by some eavesdropping people, "We both know that your dad only sees me as nothing more than an asset, so you'd better tell me the truth about why - during this important time - he'll be sending you instead of him doing it"

The older girl, growing annoyed by your attitude but unable to do anything about it, rolled her eyes before she grumbled, "I don't know anymore what I should do about you"

"You really don't want to, don't you?", you muttered before sighing through your nose, "So go scram and don't waste your money seeking for me!"

"Now wait a minute!"

But you didn't bother to listen to whatever else she had to say to you and so, she watched you in shock as you run through the traffic, causing barks from the driver and commotion all around the road until you disappeared into the crowd at the direction of the most busiest part of this zone.

You wondered how much longer you would continue to do this as you dashed through the throng of people. This would only ever end if you come back, only then would the search stop.

And truth be told, you were growing so tired of this.

But no matter how you tried to think about it, no matter what new idea you tried to come up with, it seemed like there was just no point in continuing with this. They already knew where you were and it was likely they'd continue to follow after your trace.

Once you were back in the rented room, already sitting down by the bed with a sigh, you glared down at the ring in your finger.

It was all because of this ring.

Maybe it was better if you just do what they wanted? Even if it was just to stop the unnecessary use of money and to stop the hunt like you were some kind of a criminal.

In only one look at your phone, and the wallpaper being you and the boys in your class from Jeju, you rise to your feet and find a signal by the window before you find your mom's number then wrote a message.

Never in your life did you think you'd ever voluntarily go back to them, but with a decision.

I will come back when I'm ready, say that to dad. Give me a few months or more. I will send you an address once I've already decided to go back there.

I just need to find myself, Mom.

This year had all been too much for me, so please, just for once, give me a space on my own.

Tell Dad and his childrens to stop searching for me.

Remember that I love you, always.

Say to them to send ( each of the boy's name for the triple ending) only.

If someone else turn up instead once I give you the go signal, I'll leave straight away.

Don't worry about me. Stay safe!

And so after you hit the send button, you smiled before preparing again to pack your things and go somewhere else they will not find you.

That same message would be the last they hear of you for the whole year.

For now, you'll be putting yourself first before anyone else in your own adventure. To your own great escape.

To the ones who would be curious on why Y/N could do this easily, you know, going from place to place, just remember she was payed in all the months she worked as a tutor in their school.

In other words, that savings was the one keeping her afloat.
