The morning of Gran's funeral, I spent aimlessly wondering around the farmhouse's property. Never really paying attention to where I was going. I was wearing a short flowy black dress, with sheer sleeves, and a square neckline. I also had on black heels.
At about 10:30 I decided to head towards the cemetery, because Gran's service would be starting soon. On my way through the grave yard I noticed the white lily that I grew a few days prior. I plucked it from the ground and carried it with me to Gran's grave. Once I got to her casket I laid the lily on top of it. So, Gran would have a piece of me and my light with her forever.
"Good morning Roslyn, I'm sorry for your loss" The pastor said, I never did bother to learn his name. He was always persistent with me because I was the only woman in my family that didn't go to church. That seemed to bug him.
"Yeah, good morning" I sighed.
He went to reach towards me to hug me, but I twirled around and quickly headed towards my seat to avoid him.I sat down between Sookie and Tara, they both gave me a sad smile.
"what kind of ballerina moves were those?" Lafayette asked with a laugh.
"I don't like strangers touching me" I shrugged. Tara smacked his arm with Gran's obituary.Speaking of unwanted touching, the family's creepy uncle was being pushed in a wheel chair by a nurse. Sookie tightly grasped my hand when she saw him. I didn't live in Louisiana when I was a child so I never had any encounters with him, Sookie wasn't nearly as lucky as me.
"Why is he here?" Sookie asked quietly. I was already plotting his murder when I heard the panic in her voice.
"I invited him, he's family" Jason said nonchalantly.
"He's not family." She said.
"I know him and Gran had a falling out, but he's her brother, he deserves to be here." He said defensively. Sookie choose to ignore her oblivious brother, and put her attention onto the Pastor that just had begun speaking.
"Jason you are a fucking idiot" I bitterly whispered. He just rolled his eyes at me. He slapped Sookie yesterday, he's clearly high as fuck on V, and now this. He should get the brother of the fucking year award.I blocked out whatever the pastor was saying, but happily tuned in when it was Sookies turn to speak.
"Honey, you wanted to say a few words" The pastor said while guiding Sookie towards the stage. She took out her speech and began reading.
"Adol Stackhouse was everything to me. She wasn't just my grandmother, she was my parent, my teacher, and my best friend"'oh please, if it wasn't for you she'd still be alive'
'vampire whore'
'I thought she was a good girl, I guess you can never tell'
'we all know you killed her'
The people's thoughts at the funeral distracted both Sookie and I. Sookie faltered for a a few seconds, before continuing on like a champ.
"To say she will be missed, just doesn't cut it cause I can't even imagine a world without her in it. She was always there with a kind word, and a hot meal and a shoulder to cry on. Not just for me but for everyone that knew her"
'I never meant to hurt no one, I couldn't help it' our fucking pedophile uncle thought.
'pathetic girl'
'she can't even pretend like she cares'
'We know that you're sleeping with that fanger'
