Character: Kageyama Tobio
Anime: Haikyuu
Warnings: Hints of domestic abuse, gaslighting, manipulation, and toxic relationship.

Silence..it was almost suffocating, the couple that resided in the living room stared down at the floor. In absolute quietness as large tears rolled down Y/N's face. Their hands shook rapidly as many unsaid thoughts echoed in their heads.

Large tears rolled down their face as they watched a drunk Tobio once again rant about how they did absolutely nothing in the relationship. How it was their fault it was going to shit after being together for 6 years.

Deep down they couldn't help but wonder..Where did it all go wrong? They were completely fine for the first 4 years before everything began turning toxic. Tobio swallowed habits such as belittling Y/N till the point they began questioning their own sanity. They thought it truly was their fault even for the smallest thing.

Friends of theirs began questioning what was going on between the couple once they realized the large eye bags under the once shiny e/c eyes that used to sparkle at the mention of coffee. Nowadays they would look spaced out and almost lifeless.

But why couldn't they let go? Why did they keep holding on? They loved Tobio, there was no denying that, it was true...right? However the more they looked at it the less it hurt thinking about a break up, rather it almost felt like they would achieve true freedom. Yet part of them begged them to stay, the part that still loved Kageyama like no other.

"I loved you a little too much.." they whispered as small shaky sniffles left their mouth. Tobio cocked his head to the side in utter confusion "What do you mean? You never loved me, I did all the work, I carried on this relationship and now you're being ungrateful?!" He yelled out blowing one of his familiar fuses. Flinching at the tone of voice and aggressive hold Y/N couldn't help but whimper out a plea for help.

"I gave you absolutely everything you could ever want and even like that you treat me like this?" He feigned pain while crocodile tears cascaded down his azure eyes. Y/N looked down in shame as tears of their own fell down their eyes while shaking their head and hugging Kageyama tightly like their life depended on it. Countless "I'm sorry's" were whispered against his ear like a broken record.

Kageyama struggled holding in his smile as he ran his fingers through Y/N's soft h/c hair threading his fingers through each lock. "There is no one out there that can treat you better than me, you know that right?" He spoke softly the fake genuinity would want to make anyone throw up. Completely gaslighted by the milk lover, Y/N shook their head in complete submission, forgetting about what they were arguing about moments prior.

5 years later

Y/N looked down at themselves and scrunching up their nose in the process. They had officially lost their friend group and distanced themselves from everyone they loved only having Kageyama to turn towards. The manipulating, gaslighting and overall possession of the blue haired had only gotten stronger. It had gotten terribly big till the point Y/N had to ask permission to be with someone, it was as if Kageyama controlled every single movement Y/N made.

Various people tried helping Y/N only to get a threatening message the next day. It was obvious who sent it, terrified for their safety they left the h/c haired alone mentally praying for their safety. Many had decided it would be safe to leave the e/c eyed alone for the sake of everyone.

One cold afternoon Y/N found themselves walking to an old cafe they used to visit back in the day. Stepping inside the small cozy area, they were greeted by the smell of coffee and freshly baked pastries. A small smile made itself to their face as they were greeted by the lady at the front desk. "Welcome to Lucy's cafe! What can I get for you today?" The green haired woman chirped out, pure innocence pouring out from her.

It made the h/c haired flinch at such purity, hell it made them want to cry. They were so accustomed to such negative and heavy feelings at home with Tobio that her aura overall felt like a new breath of air. Unknowingly they began to cry, streams of salty tears falling down their face.

Panic replaced the once happy smile of the cashier. Moving away from the counter she quickly made her way towards the stuned h/c who seemed to be staring at nothing while crying. Reaching up her arm the brown eyed female frowned once she felt how the e/c tended up at her hold.

Deciding to brush it off for now she made her way with the now seemingly fine h/c next to her. Sitting them down on one of the booths she grinned reassuringly. "I'll go make you a nice cup of coffee, how does that sound?" She spoke quietly, nervous about scaring the clearly timid person in front of them, receiving a little nod she quickly dashed away to prepare two cups of coffee.

"Here ya go!~" the green haired smiled, setting down two cups of coffee down on their table. They spent the rest of the afternoon talking about who knows what. Y/N found out their name was Angel, she was a woman who shared the same age as them just months younger. Looking down at their watch Y/N quickly excused themselves and thanked them for the coffee which they tried to pay only to have the brown eyed shake her head and dismiss the money saying "Its on the house."

Hesitantly leaving Y/N made their way home feeling the same dread pool in their stomach. Once they were at the front of the house they took a small breath before entering only to be greeted by a clearly enraged blue haired. "Where were you all day?" He asked, it was obvious by the tone of voice that he wasn't happy..not one bit.

"I got sidetracked by the cafe we used to go to back in highschool.." Y/N timidly answered, arms wrapped themselves around their frame causing the same tears to gather themselves up again in the corners of their eyes once they felt the fingers of Tobio stab themselves against their hips.

"No matter how much you mistreat me. I can't bring myself to leave."
