My last gift to the world

I looked at the ground below my thoughts moving in a thousand different directions I looked behind me and saw it moving closer to me, my heart raced and I started to break out in a sweat, maybe I should start my story from the beginning it'll make more sense as to why I'm standing on the of a building preparing to jump.

It started about a month after I moved in I started to hear things move around and seeing things out of the corner of my eye but when I went to look directly at it, it had disappeared  I thought I was losing my mind. I  told my friends, my parents, even my sister, but they all said that I was just imagining things as this was my first apartment by myself, and I was just jittery about being alone. My sister suggested that I get a pet to keep me company, so I ended up getting myself a German Sheppard whom I named Major. I was so happy to be coming home to him every day my life was so much better with him around and I finally felt comfortable in my own home. Major also seemed to love living with me he would always wait by the door for me to come home, he would always let me know when it was time to go for a walk, or when it was time for dinner.

But his attitude started to change after a year of living with me in the apartment, he became withdrawn wasn't eating as much as he used to eat. It got to where there were certain rooms he refused to go into if I wasn't in them. He would stare at the wall for hours, or cower in the corner of the room as if somebody was standing there threatening him. I put up hidden cameras to see if I could catch something, as to get some evidence not just for myself but also in case I had to ask for some type of help as I feared that whatever was happening was going to affect my life.

On Major's birthday, I decided to buy a guinea pig to in a way keep major company, while I was away at work I ended up naming her caddy. She started to stay in one corner of her cage when I wasn't home, and Major was very protective of her, I once came home and found her cage on the floor Major was in the corner with caddy between his paws as he growled at something in front of him. When I had turned the corner a black mass shot up into my ceiling and disappeared, I ran over to them and saw caddy was hurt so I got them ready and went to the vet to make sure she would make it. The only thing that happened was caddy had to have her right front paw amputated. Fearing for the safety of my pets I called my mom and asked her if she could watch them, unfortunately, she and my stepdad were going out of town, and having no one else to watch them I had to keep them with me. After that incident, everything calmed down for a while and I thought that whatever was happening had stopped a few weeks turned into a couple of months of peace.

Then one night I awoke to what sounded like every door in my apartment was simultaneously rattling. I tried to get out of bed but it felt like I was being held down the only thing I could move was my head. I looked around and opened my mouth to scream as there was a huge shadow that seemed to have horns was coming straight for me around the bottom of the shadow were smaller ones that came up to the larger shadow's knee that kept darting around, they seemed to be looking for something. Then one of them dragged my baseball bat from the closet and lifted it with ease (despite it being quite larger than the little shadow), and charged at me I let a scream rip from my throat when suddenly my front door burst open and my neighbor with his wife came running into the room. They saw the shadows as they disappeared and saw the bat fall to the floor, suddenly I could move and I jumped out of bed running to them and they started to guide me out of the apartment, as tears ran down my reddened face. I asked my neighbors' wife if she could get Major and Caddy, as I didn't want to leave them alone after what just happened. They took me to their apartment and called a local priest to come to look at the apartment, and I stayed the night at their place.

The next day a priest and a nun came to my apartment to try to clear out whatever was in my place they were in there for about two hours before anything happened suddenly we could hear the nun screaming and trying to recite a prayer before she ran out of the apartment her face as white as a sheet and her body shaking like a leaf, she put her back against the wall and slid down until she was sitting and clutching her cross to her chest, as she mumbled to herself. Soon after the priest was thrown from the apartment and slammed into the hallway as a deep, gut-wrenching evil laugh sounded from the apartment, and for a moment it seemed like the apartment itself was alive. The priest stood up and held up his cross screaming at the entities to leave my apartment when suddenly the door slammed shut and all was silent, the priest waited for a few moments and then opened my door and walked it reciting a few more prayers before he came to me to let me know it was safe to go back in. He walked over to the nun and helped her up leading her away, I got Major and Caddy and took them home and for the first time in over a year it felt like there was finally peace in my home I sighed in relief and went to bed peacefully.

A few more months passed after that incident and I was happy that I could leave Caddy and Major at home without having to worry if something was going to attack them. They also seemed to be less stressed and happier, that was until Halloween came around I had gotten the day off for my apartment's annual tiny tots trick or treat where everybody took part in giving the children a safe and fun Halloween. After preparing I went to lay down to get some rest before it started when I heard major start giving out a low growl when I went into the living room where he was he was standing in the corner of the room and the hair on his back was standing on end when I looked at caddy I saw that she was running around in circles. My first thought was maybe somebody knocked on the door and I didn't hear them and they had tried to get in but normally Major would bark if someone was at the door. That's when the room started to get abnormally cold, to the point where I could see my breath, confused I went to check the thermostat but it was still at the temp I had put it on this morning. Suddenly my bedroom door started to creak open and that's when all the color started to drain from my face, as I knew that sound all too well, I turned to face my bedroom and my breath just left my body as I saw the horned creature that had tortured me before, I screamed and ran for my front door but an unseen force threw me into the living room wall, I cried out in extreme pain as my body made contact with the wall and then the floor Major started barking loudly and furiously but he too was thrown across the room, and with a loud terrifying yelp, he hit the wall and went silent. I groaned and crawled over to Major to see if he was ok but as soon as I got close enough I could see he was already gone the force of impact from being thrown by the entity had snapped his neck, tears streaming down my face I looked back to the bedroom to see the entity moving closer and closer to me. I got up and grabbed caddy's cage and bolted from the apartment I stopped for a moment and left her with the neighbors who had helped me before. I looked behind me and saw it watching me then with supernatural speed it started to come after me. My heart raced as I ran going up the stairs with only one thought in my mind that it wants me it wants to kill me its self. The past two years it had been toying with me, waiting for the perfect moment to strike, and tonight was that night. I could hear it chasing me as I ran up the stairs, all the way to the roof where I found a place to hide, I got my phone out and texted my family letting them know I loved them and whatever they find out and its the only way to stop whatever was after me. My family started to blow up my phone but I didn't have time to look at the messages.

Setting my phone down I stood up just in time to see the entity looking for me, Sirens wailed in the distance and my phone started to ring which caught the attention of the entity. I ran for the edge of the building and stopped as I looked out and took in one last glimpse of my hometown, now the sirens were below me and I could hear people muttering and calling out as I stood on the edge staring down at the people. the cops sent in a couple of officers to try to stop me and my family had just pulled up. My mother screamed and begged me to get down, but I couldn't this was for the good of everybody this was the only way. The entity charged at me screaming as the cops burst through the door a little too late they saw the entity wrap around me as I fell my heart race as tears spilled down my cheek, as I made my way down. I felt my body make contact with the ground and could hear my family screaming and wailing in agony but my soul continued to fall with the entity wrapped around it as we plummeted straight to the depths of hell its self.
