When Kabir opened his eyes in pain he found himself on a bed. The woman sat cold on the floor with her head resting beside him.
His hand travelled to his stomach. He wasn't bleeding. He had been safe for an entire night and the tape could hang on a little more he thought.
Why did she save him? A stranger?
He slid up and momentarily rested his head on the bed rest trying to push off the pain and sleep from his eyes. He snuck a glance at her.
Peaceful and calm.
Her hair open, reached her lower back almost touching the floor shielding a major part of her face from him. Her uncomfortable posture forced him to get out of bed. Scooping her up her placed her on the bed.
Even the immense shuffling didn't bother her at all. Unfazed she slept deeply.
"Tired..huh?" He whispered.
His fingers couldn't stop from removing her hair from her forehead. It was then that he smiled."It's a small world!"
He found the car keys and wearing his bloodied shirt and jacket moved outside. Jogging through the rain he opened the car and picked up his gun which lay on the floor of the car. Locking it he moved back. While running he saw their red heads dancing in the rain. Absentmindedly he plucked one.
He placed the keys back. It wasn't difficult to find a paper and pen. He saw it right in front of his eyes. Looking at the books he interpreted that she was fond of reading, probably writing too.
Scribbling a quick 'thankyou' he placed the poppy with the note and left her apartment.
Pulling his jacket hood over his head as he walked through the rain he thought back. How that guy had shot him and how he had save this woman.
"Ironical!"
How he sat with the bloodied body of the drunk guy staring at the pic in his wallet finally letting pain and exhaustion take over. When he got up the guy was gone and so was his wallet.
"Bloody thief!"
He knew this area very well. He wondered how she lived here. For it was known for thefts, crimes and robberies. But then looking at her dingy apartment it wasn't difficult to guess that she didn't have money or resources to find a better place.
He could have gone home but with the gun shot wound he didn't want to bother his loved ones. This was his nature of job and he couldn't help it.
He knocked the door in front of him.
"Hey doc!"
A man in his mid 50's opened up the door . Still in sleep he heaved a sigh and stepped aside letting Kabir in.
"Come on now that's not a very good welcome!"
Dr. Robert Wilson yawned and allowed him to move inside. Almost hissing in pain Kabir entered. Dr. Roberts sleep evaded and he turned around.
"Kabir! What's wrong?!"
Kabir laughed out loud and hissed again.
"That's the reason I love you Rob."
"Sit down." Robert commanded.
"Let me have a look."
Kabir opened up his buttons. Ripping the tape off the doctor pulled out something.
"So who was she?"
"Huh?"
"The one who saved you."
"How do you know tha it was a 'she'?"
He held his hand up holding something which came out from beneath the tape.
"What's that?" Kabir asked.
"A tampon."Robert smiled.
"What!"
"A very intelligent woman indeed! Nothing better than this for soaking up blood. And she's done a very fine job I must say!"
Both the men looked at the discarded tampon which Amrita had inserted into the cut to prevent blood from flowing.
Minutes and both burst out laughing!
"Smart!" Kabir mumbled.
Robert started working on his wound.
Repeatedly he was recalled of her fear sticken face. After years he was reminded of somebody being near him. Somebody very special. How would have life been if that incident didn't happen that night two years ago?
Those eyes...he couldn't forget those dark black eyes. When he first saw them in the dark alley they left an impact. They held much more than just fear. Her hair wild and free reminded him of the dense forests. Frail yet courageous she was a mystery to him.
And he didn't even know her name. Despite this attraction towards her he hoped he would never see her again!
Momentarily her face quenched his thirsty heart. Wanting to hold onto the feeling a little longer her closed his eyes and smiled.
