Hey guys! For all those who did not read the previous Chapter, here's a briefing:

Cassie gets beaten up by Jay. He strips her and tries to rape her but she manages to kick him and subdue him for a while. She gets her hands on his phone and calls the police but she couldn't give them much information before she faints.

Chapter 25

Cassie's POV

I awoke to a new environment. The room I was now in was pretty well-lit. It was big and spacious, but quite gloomy.

I was strapped to a bed post with handcuffs and I was sitting on the floor. I looked around to see if Jake was there. He was. But I suppose he was unconscious.

He was strapped to the bed post diagonally opposite to mine so it was impossible to reach him from the position I was in.

"Jake," I whispered, hoping he would wake up. When I didn't receive an answer, I increased my volume and repeated, "Jake!"

It didn't work.

I looked around to search for something I could throw at him to wake him up. I soon found an empty Coke can lying just beyond my feet. I leaned backwards to allow my feet to extend towards it and reach it.

After a lot of stretching at straining, I finally got my toe into the open lid and pulled it towards me. I had to do some more gymnastics to get the can in my hands, but fortunately I was able to.

When I had it, I carefully stood up so I'd be able to throw it properly. Then, I aimed as well as I could with my hands cuffed and threw it at him.

Bull's eye!

His eyes snapped open and he looked around the room with his arms still resting on the bed.

When he spotted me, his eyes widened in shock.

"You're alive..," he said.

"Yeah. And you too," I replied.

"What happened?" he asked.

"What's the last thing you remember?"

"Uh... I was at that shack... You-you were taken away. After a while I heard the door open and then someone hit me in the head. I can't remember anything after that."

"Okay. They probably brought us here because I had called the police."

"How? What happened to you?"

"Long story short - they wanted me to tell them everything you told me and they thought I knew something important. When Tan got nothing out of me, she handed me over to Jay. And he... Did things. Anyway, I got my hands on his phone somehow and called the police. I fainted after that."

"I'm so sorry, Cass. I wish there was something I could do."

"How'd you blow your cover?" I asked.

"I didn't kill you. I was supposed to kill you but spare Kay."

"How does Tan know you told me stuff?"

"I don't know how-she just does."

I nodded in response. My thoughts were overwhelming me. Question after question attacked my mind and left every few seconds with a vague answer. It was unnaturally exhausting.

"So what now?" Jake asked after a few moments of silence.

"I suppose, we just wait. I have a feeling Tan is on her way here with Kay," I replied.

Kay's POV

What my parents had said took quite a while to sink in. It was almost like my whole life was a lie. All these thoughts about what life would be like with my sister began hitting me only in the night, when I was alone. I should've been angry at my parents for lying to me for so long, but I knew that if I was in their stead, I would've done the same thing.
