Draco Malfoy was having a party on the inside. Harry Potter just asked Draco Malfoy to be friends. Ever since first year when he had laid eyes on the boy he had wanted to be friends, and he still did, but over the years the thoughts of friendship became more than that, and he wasn't sure what to do about it. Once his thoughts finished, he realized he still hadn't said anything to Harry.
"Yeah, I think I would like it if we were friends." Harry looked up and smiled, then sat down on the grass and gestured for Draco to do the same.
"Now that we're friends, do you mind me asking why you were crying?" After everything that had just happened, Draco actually forgot that before The Boy Who Lived came he was indeed crying.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, but talking about it always helps me. But, again, if you don't want to you don't have to". Draco took a deep breath. He wanted to tell Harry everything. He would be the first to know about it all, and the thought of that gave him a jolt of confidence as he remembered that he was the only one that knew about Harry being an animagus. With that, he told Harry everything; that the Dark Lord was using his house as a hideout, that since the end of fourth year he father had been using Draco as a punching bag when he was angry, that his father kept nagging at him to become a Death Eater, and that he never felt like he was a Slytherin and he never wanted to be in that house to begin with.
While saying all that, he must have started crying, because Harry had put a comforting arm on his shoulder, and Draco's head was laid on his shoulder. After Draco finished they sat there in silence, until Harry said "I had no idea. I am so sorry."
"Sorry for what Scarhead, like you said, don't apologize for something you didn't do." Harry smirked, and they fell into silence, although this time it was a comfortable sound. They sat there for hours, with Harry's arm draped over Draco's shoulders, and Draco's head resting on Harry's shoulder. At some point they both feel asleep on the immense roots of the big oak tree, where earthy green and teary grey eyes met at the beginning of what felt like a pretty magical night for the two boys cuddling at the bottom of the big oak tree.
