"Hey, seems like they finally got that kid to talk." Benny said. He and Ethan walked out of the building after school had ended. The taller teen was looking at his phone with a juice box in his other hand. "What kid?" Ethan asked. "The ginger one. Only thing they managed to get out of him though was the word 'demon'." Ethan's head buzzed with the laughter of a certain red haired eldritch being, but he ignored it. Just as he's done for two years now.

"'Demon'? Why that?" Ethan asked. "Don't know. His parents said he ran through the door and just started crying. After a while, the only thing he could say was demon in red." The shorter boy nodded. "Creepy. Anyway, this juice box is really good." Benny said, accidentally squirting some on Ethan. "Woah! Hey!" The teen exclaimed. "Heh, sorry man." Benny chuckled nervously. "Yea." Ethan said sarcastically. "Hey, is that the girl you bumped into?" Ethan looked over and saw Sarah leaning on a tree, talking to Jesse Black. The head of the drama club.

"Well, looks like she's already hooked up with mr too cool for school." He said. "Did someone say my name?" A blonde kid with glasses asked from behind them. Ethan and Benny looked back at Rory with looks that said 'lame'. "Heh, looks like they're having some trouble in paradise. You might have a chance." Benny joked. "Nah, I prefer the blonde nerd." Ethan smiled, looking at Erica who was screaming dusk forever at her friend. Unfortunately, she was ignored. "No offense Ethan, but I don't roll that way." Rory said. Ethan looked back. "Why do I hang out with you again?" He asked. "Because you took pity on me when you saw how lonely I was." Rory shrugged. Ethan and Benny blinked.

"That's depressing." They said at the same time. Suddenly they heard the screeching of tires and the rev of an engine. All three jumped back just in time to avoid getting their feet ran over by the grey car that Jesse and Gord were in. "Outta the way losers!" Gord yelled. Ethan scowled in annoyance and his eyes glowed red. With a clench of his fist the cars back tire blew with a loud pop. The car wobbled and shook. Ethan smirked evilly before wiping it off of his face and replacing it with a shocked face. "Woah. Talk about instant karma." Benny said. "Yea." Rory said. The three then went their separate ways.

Ethan sat at his kitchen table, doing his homework. Jane was there too, playing with her dolls. Ethan's parents, Samantha and Ross Morgan, came down stairs dressed as a typical cowboy and cowgirl. They were talking with the stereotypical southern drawl as well. They did a little spin and asked their kids how they looked.

"You look really pretty mommy." Jane said. "You look good guys." Ethan said with a small smile. Jane looked at him and got confused. Normally when Ethan smiled it made her nervous. She doesn't know why, but it just seemed scary. Now it was a warm and comforting smile. "Oh, thank you. Both of you." Samantha said with a smile. "Hey, Ethan. Did you talk to the babysitter at school?" Ross asked. Ethan nodded. "I did. Why?" He asked. "Did she say what time she'd be here? She's running a bit late?" His dad said. "Uh, no. She didn't say anything about it. Do you have her number?" The two adults nodded.

"We do, but she's not answering." Ethan hummed again before he heard growling and snarling. Looking at the window his eyes narrowed. "Maybe she got lost, I'll go out and look for her." He said. "Wait, what about your homework?" His mom asked. "I'm done with it already. You honestly expected me to have trouble with that?" Ethan laughed with pride clear in his voice. "I'll be back." He said. Ethan didn't even bother with a hoodie. He simply slipped on his shoes and left.

Outside

Sarah stood in front of Erica with a barely hidden snarl at her boyfriend or ex boyfriend, Jesse Black. Gord was looking at a nervous Erica. He gave her a wink and she eeped. There was clearly hostility between the couple and Erica just wanted to get to the Morgan's house.

"Let us go, Jesse." Sarah said with clear annoyance. "Oh come on, Sarah. Just come to the party and we can talk there. You can even bring your friend." He said, hoping to get the blonde on his side. "She has somewhere to be." Sarah said. "I believe she does." A new voice said. Everyone looked at the bench that was a few feet behind Sarah and Erica. Ethan sat there, his legs crossed and his hands on a cane. The stick part was completely black and on the top was a pink crystal in the shape of an heart, with a gold V in the middle. It also has gold surrounding the heart with three spindly leg like protrusions on each side.

"Um, who are you?" Gord asked. An edge in his voice. "Me? Just an innocent little nobody." Ethan said with a wide smile. His gold tooth gleaming in the street light. "My parents noticed that Erica was running late. I had assumed that she was lost, but it seems that a bunch of ruffians were holding her up." He said. He walked up behind the girls, his cane in his hand. "Come now, the poor girl has a job to do." Ethan said putting an arm around the blonde's shoulder. She blushed and averted her gaze.

"Well maybe she's changed her mind." Gord said stepping up. Ethan's smile stretched to nearly impossible lengths. "Oh? Well then. Erica, have you changed your mind?" Erica shook her head quietly. "There ya go. She would still like to go to her babysitting gig." He said. Ethan's eyes changed into pink hearts that made the drama club nervous for some reason. "I'm coming too." Sarah said. Ethan shrugged. "Not my problem. Follow if you please." Jesse went to say something, but the heavy smell of cherries made them all woozy and dazed. They all felt sluggish and tired.

"Is there a problem, Mr. Black?" He asked. Jesse blinked. Confused and dazed he shook his head. Ethan nodded and led the girls away.
