A good distraction

Mabel POV

Monday morning also ment school time and I was less than excited to set even a foot into this building but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do

And the first thing I did when I arrived was go to Pacifica home room to see if she was there but she wasn't

That's when I spotted her friends in the back of the class "hey you two" they both turned there attention to me "Uhh you need something"

"Yeah is Pacifica here" they both spoke there heads no "nope she said she wasn't feeling well.. didn't she tell you"no pull up my phone and check my messages

"No I didn't get anything.. strange" I slipped my phone into my skirt pocket and walked away

'I hope Paz is okay..maybe I should text her' I thought as I pulled out my phone and typed up a short but sweet message

*Morning sunshine i heard that you where sick why didn't you tell me I hope you get better 😊😊*

'And send I hope she gets it' I thought as the bell ring signaling that it was time for class

It was lunch time and I decided to check my messages to see Pacifica did check my message but she didn't respond

'Is she giving me the silent treatment' I thought As I grabbed my chest and I felt a sharp pain

Tuesday

I didn't expect Paz to be here so I went on with my day and know it was practice

I had changed into a white shirt and some short pants with my baseball shoes

"You ready for me to beat your ass Mabel" I rolled my eyes as I picked up my red and silver bat with my name engraved on the side

And was surprised to feel that the my bat was a bit heavier then I remembered it being

"Oh please you say that ever time but you never been able to get me out" I chuckled as I walked out of the gym and onto the baseball field

"There is my star player ready to play ball" I grabbed my helmet and gently rested it on my head

"You know it coach" I placed my bat over my shoulder and headed over to first bace

"Everyone you know the drill this is a practice scrimmage the team who loses has to run two extra laps around the field"

Ever one got into game mode and all got into the places

"Batter up!!" my coach yelled as my teammate now opponent Chelsea pulled back her arm and threw the ball. My grip on my bat tightened and I swung

"Strike One!!"

'Strike strike that was a perfect swing and yet I missed' I thought I shook my head I needed to stay focus

Just like last time I tightened my grip on the bat and swung as the ball came to me

"Strike Two" my eyes widened 'I missed again back to back this has never happened to me before and I refused to let it happen now' I thought

As I clenched my jaw tightened my hands and made my stance more stable and once that ball came I swung once more

And a grin stretched on my face when I heard the sound of metal hitting something

And just like always i dropped my bat and ran first, second, third and then home

'Home Run!! that's four points to Mabels team' once I reached home I practically fell onto the floor my legs hurt like shit and I had never run as slow as I did then

"Woah what was that Mabel" I turned my head to see my coach and she was not happy though she never really ever smiled"

"In the two years I have been your coach I have never seen you pull that many strikes in a row hell you barely ever pull a strike"

I use my bat to balance myself as I stand up my heart was in my throat and I was panting as if I was a dog

"I don't know coach.. Guess today is just not my day" she sighed and pulled of her cap so she could run her fingers through her finger hair

"It's alright just sit down until it's your turn again"

Wednesday

Pacifica hasn't responded nor showed up to school

I try texting her ever other hour but nothing she wouldn't see it for hours and when she did see it she wouldn't respond

I was sad and didn't k ow what to do then it hit me 'why don't I buy her a gift she would have to say something to me then' I though as I pulled my computer over to me

And did I bit if online shopping

Thursday

I checked the timing of the package on my phone it was due to arrive and I couldn't wait I know the minute Pacifica saw the contents of that box she would be all over me

Well I hope so she has been straight up ignoring me and I refuse to go and ask her cousin about what's happening to her

And I miss Her more than anything in the world well not everything but most of if it

Friday

I laid on my bed in fetal position holding waddles as I felt my world unravel in felt mad, crazy, and lost

Tears rolled down my eyes as I looked at the phone the last thing she texted me was last week Saturday and it was a picture of her blowing me a kiss

It was so stupid to think that this picture had me be so stuck and in love and even though I could have any girl I want in gravity falls I didn't want anyone else but her

The words 'I don't need her' played over and over again in my head trying to convince me that I didn't need Pacifica

Then I heard a ding from my phone and I look to see that it was a message from Pacifica

My eyes widened and I had never clicked on something so fast in my life

*hey Mabel I was wondering if you'd like to come over*

I jumped out of my bed and ran downstairs not even caring that I was literally in booty shorts and a crop top

I grabbed my keys from out of the counter and got into my car and raised down the driveway and in a few minutes I was on the main rode

And it was empty all the stores where closed except for a bar or two

A giant grin was on my face
