They are decisive people who love momentum and accomplishment. They gather information to construct their creative visions but rarely hesitate for long before acting on them. It's extremely difficult for her to sit back and let other people handle her life for her. So, despite being a princess, she does whatever she can on her own. Everything that her parents want for her, she does the opposite of, simply to annoy them. Often, this involves taking risks that her parents term "foolhardy," for instance, sneaking out of the palace at night. Backstory: Gabrielle was born to the King and Queen of France at the once-ancient, restored-to-opulence Palace of Versailles, the French royals' summer palace, much to her parents' surprise. Victor and Elise had not been trying for a child at that point in their lives, but they loved her just the same. Gabrielle quickly established herself as independent, not taking direction from anyone but herself. The Durands went through several nursemaids, and, when she turned four, private schools, in an attempt to tame their daughter. They believed that instead of being castle-schooled as they both had been, it would be best for her to know her people. The last time she went to a private elementary school, right around the age of nine, she got into an argument with the other students about interrupting quiet reading time. After that, her parents decided to have her tutored at the castle. And, after that, it was a matter of finding the right governess, one who could deal with Gabrielle's intense nature. Eventually, the Durands gave up on that idea, and Elise took over her daughter's schooling herself. Gabrielle always found it interesting to skip her lessons, opting to hide from her mother instead, and in so doing, began easily finding her way around the maze of a palace they called home. Her main escape, however, was to the stables, where she tended to her mare, Parfait, and took her out on trail rides. When she turned 18, she began attending the prestigious Sorbonne University in France, again an attempt from her parents to integrate her into the daily lives of the French. She took to her classes quite well, if not to the people, and managed to earn a B.S. in Psychology, something that would serve her well as a ruler: that was, if her knowledge was able to overcome her personality. In between all of the lessons and her semester breaks from Sorbonne, her family traveled. Diplomatic visits, her parents called them. Her favorite country by far was Illéa. She admired the way they managed to salvage their downtrodden situation with New Asia, rising like a phoenix from the flames of the broken.
