4:47 A.M.
on the road.

"hm, i didn't expect it to rain this morning." y/n muttered to herself. she was currently walking to her train so she could then catch her flight to south korea.

y/n's mood was matching the weather, gloomy and sad. she should've known he wouldn't have asked.

kicking a few pebbles on the way, she made it to her train stop. the train would then take her to the nearest airport.

no one was ever out this early, only a few birds and business men.

she opened her phone to look at the last text message she received from kenma.

ken :)

ya, don't stress it
i'll ask you out and make it super special.
i love you

i'll try not to
i love you too 🤍

the last conversation they had was 4 days ago. no new message, no calls, he didn't even try to visit her. was this really the way he wanted to end their— whatever this thing was called? y/n didn't even know if she could put the label relationship on it, since they weren't technically dating yet.

as her train arrived, she got on. not very surprised by the lack of passengers. y/n sat in a row towards the back. watching the scenery go by, she started thinking. japan is my home, i don't know if i can leave it. was this a bad idea? should i really move to korea? and before she knew it, she was already at the airport. i guess i can't take it back now.

5:30 A.M.
kenma's house.
kenma's pov.

"shit, shit, shit!" kenma had woken up too late. he was going to have to speed his ass off if he wanted to see y/n in time, and he did.

he bought a new phone the day before, so he lost all his contacts. kenma wasn't a person with a very good memory, so he could only gain the contacts of the people he could verbally talk to, meaning he couldn't get y/n's number back to text her, since they haven't been seeing each other. he turned his old phone in, so there was no use in trying to get her number from it.

after quickly getting dressed and brushing his teeth, he hopped in his car, only to speed towards the airport. i can still make it if i go fast enough.

his eyes kept glancing between the road and the clock and soon, he arrived.

5:57 A.M.
airport.
y/n's pov.

"this is the last call for flight 36 to south korea. please board now. i repeat, this is the last call for flight 36 to south korea. please board now." the voice spoke throughout the airport.

y/n hurriedly grabbed her suitcases and walked towards the exit.

this is y/n's pov. this is kenma's pov.

you know that feeling when you could've prevented someone from leaving, but you didn't? that's how kenma feels. he bursted through the entrance of the airport, praying, that y/n hasn't left yet.

"flight 36 is about to depart." a voice boomed over the intercom.

kenma whipped his head towards the exits of the different flights, searching for y/n. it wasn't hard to spot her since the place wasn't very crowded. and once he locked eye on her, he ran. at certain times he yelled out her name and begged for her to hear him.

"flight 36 is about to depart."

"well. this is where i say my goodbyes japan. thanks for the memories. some great, some bad."

y/n smiled at the flight attendant, who was waiting at the beginning of the exit, making sure a passenger wasn't left behind.

he was almost to her. almost. the security stepped in front of him, telling him that he wasn't allowed to go past this point.

arguing, he said, "no! you don't understand! she can't go on that flight! please.."

tears filled his eyes, but the security felt no sympathy and watched as the man in front of them broke down and begged. this sadness turned into anger, and kenma attempted to push his way through the guards, but of course, it didn't work. they grabbed onto his arms as he was trying to reach out to the girl who was now out of sight.

"we have to escort you out."

as y/n found her seat on the plane, it was like all her memories she had in japan came back at once.

"we will now start traveling to south korea. please stay seated, unless you need to go to the restroom, etc."

the plane was now taking off and she felt proud she was able to move away, even though she was going to miss it. i'm doing it. y/n thought. but for some reason, she wasn't as happy as she thought she would be.

'i'll ask you out and make it super special. i love you.' was there a reason to lie? did he find someone else that was better than y/n?

her phone screen was now being splattered with salty drops.

i wish i never went to your stupid meet and greet, kozume.

end.
