Yamaguchi got a bad grade on a test due to not being able to study and Tsukishima had to comfort him.Story/Third person POV
It was second period and Yamaguchi's class was about to get their tests back. Yamaguchi was nervous to get his test back, he knew he hadn't done well and the fact that this teacher didn't like him never helped.
As the teacher got to Yamaguchi's desk she held out the paper and handed it to Yamaguchi, once Yamaguchi took the paper the teacher remained there for a bit longer than she did with the other students before heading back to her desk and continuing to teach the class."C minus…" Yamaguchi thought as he placed his test into his bag, usually Yamaguchi would get an A or at least a B, but that's the problem with having helped everyone else with things instead of studying.
Throughout the rest of the day Yamaguchi's classmates would make remarks about his test, Yamaguchi tried to ignore them however by the end of the day they'd gotten to him.
They didn't have afternoon practice that day since they had a practice match the other day. So Yamaguchi headed out of the school once he'd finished his last class.
Tsukishima was waiting for Yamaguchi at the school entrance, it was normal for them to walk to and from school together and today they had planned to hang out.
As Yamaguchi walked past Tsukishima he payed him little mind and started walking to his house, Tsukishima seemed confused but payed it little mind as he began to walk with Yamaguchi.
They walked in an awkward silence until Tsukishima spoke up, "What's wrong Yamaguchi, usually you like to talk about how your day went when we're walking." "It's nothing Tsuki, just wasn't an interesting day." Yamaguchi said, he sounded like if the conversation continued any longer he would cry, Tsukishima left it at that for the time being. They continued to walk in silence until they got to Yamaguchi's, he took out his key and unlocked the door. Tsukishima noticed Yamaguchi's hands shaking as he opened the door.
Once they got inside Yamaguchi headed to his room while Tsukishima placed his things down. Tsukishima knew something was wrong so he went to Yamaguchi's room to check on him.
When Tsukishima got to the room he noticed Yamaguchi in a ball on his bed, his backpack was in the opposite corner of the room, it seemed like it'd been tossed there mindlessly. Tsukishima could hear muffled sobs coming from beneath the blanket Yamaguchi used in an attempt to cover himself.
"Yams…" Tsukishima said in a quiet and concerned tone as he walked towards Yamaguchi, To his dismay he got no response.
Yamaguchi felt the bed beside him sink down and the blanket being removed from it's place around him. As the cold air hit Yamaguchi he shivered slightly.
Tsukishima lifted Yamaguchi into his lap, he rubbed Yamaguchi's back and shoulder, shushing him slowly. "You know I'm always here for you Yams, please just tell me what happened…"
Yamaguchi buried his face in Tsukishima's shoulder and wrapped his arms around Tsukishima's waist, he held onto him tightly, as if he were scared to let go. "Am I stupid…?" Yams mumbled, his voice was raspy and hard to understand but Kei heard enough to know what he said.
Tsukishima lifted Yamaguchi's head slightly, "of course not Yams, why would you think that?" "My test, I-I got a C minus… I usually get at least a B, the teacher and my classmates they…" his sentence trailed off.
Tsukishima pulled Yamaguchi closer, "you're not stupid, don't listen to them. You were anxious plus you were busy helping others and didn't get a chance to study, and hey, at least you didn't fail like the two idiots." Yamaguchi let out a light chuckle.
"Thank you Tsuki…"
"Any time Tadashi."
