Since I left my pack, I've been walking and running in both wolf and human forms. I've been avoiding pack territories and rogue lands, and as the princess and former heir to the throne, I know where every land boundary begins and ends. I've been hunting my food as well, which had been hard at first, but then I used the training my dad taught me and soon I'm perfect.
Today I decided to head towards a town where humans and werewolves live. A lot of the humans don't know about us, but those that do are the ones that were mated to a werewolf in the town. When I get there, a lot of the wolves stare at me and using my heightened sense of hearing, I pick up on some werewolf gossip and a few rumours about me. As I was heading to a diner to get some proper food, I heard someone whisper, "Isn't that princess Clarissa?" And then someone answers, "Yeah, that's her. I heard she was exiled for killing her parents, but I don't believe she did." I turned and walked up to the two girls whispering to each other and said, " Damn right, I didn't. I was framed, and I'll find out who did it and reclaim my title. Spread that around." After that, I walked away and entered the diner. I opened the door and got a whiff of the most intoxicating smell. It smelled of pine, grass and dirt. Suddenly my wolf started stirring, and I froze when I heard her say one word, "Mate!"
I turned in the direction of the scent and saw the most gorgeous man I'd ever seen. He was staring right at me, and I saw his eyes shifting from an excellent hazel to black and back again, signalling that he was fighting with his wolf to stay in control. I took a deep breath and went up to him, but before I could say a word, a look of recognition crossed his face, followed by a severe expression and his next words were ones I had never expected to hear. "I, Alpha Austin Myers, reject you, Princess Clarissa as my mate."
I felt my heart breaking in half at his words, and I tried to speak but couldn't. Before he left, he said, " I can't be mated to someone who betrayed her kind."
I tried my hardest not to cry and turned and made sure no one saw that, and luckily no one did. So I ordered my food to go and left. And decided to walk around the town a bit to get myself aquatinted. After 10 minutes, I noticed a sign saying someone was looking for a roommate. I took the number and went to the nearest service station to ask for a phone call.
An hour later, I rang the doorbell in front of a big house. A short blond girl around 23 years old answered the door; from what I could tell, she was a werewolf. Recognition crossed her face before she pulled me inside and closed the door. When we were inside, she whispered, "What are you doing here?" I looked around before answering, " I need a place to stay and spoke to someone on the phone, and they told me to come here." She smiled and said, "Well, princess, you are welcome to stay here as long as you like. By the way, I don't believe you killed your parents." I smiled gratefully at her and thanked her. 'Crash!' We heard something break upstairs and then a string of curses. A minute later, a tall brunette walks down the stairs and smiles when she sees me. "Hi, you must be Clarissa. I'm Robin.", she introduced herself." Yes, I'm Clarissa, and it's lovely to meet you." Realising that she did not introduce herself to me, the blond girl spoke up, "And I'm Regina; I'm sorry for not introducing myself earlier." We stood there getting to know each other, and I noticed that Robin was human, but she seemed to know a lot about werewolves. Later they both took me on tour, and Robin apologised for a broken vase, probably the sound we heard earlier. After that time, I was shown to my room. It was big, and the walls were painted a light purple. There was also a bathroom in there, and the bed was king-size. I loved it, and the first thing I did was put my bag down and explore. After a while, the girls left me there to freshen up, so I decided to unpack my things and shower. As the warm water cascaded my body, the recent events came flooding back to me. My parents' death, my exile, leaving my little brother and finally getting rejected by my mate. I cried like a baby until I couldn't anymore. I decided to focus instead on the good things. Most of the citizens in the werewolf world don't believe that I killed my parents, I have a place to stay, I'm not broke ( thanks to my emergency bank account), and my brother is safe. After I got settled, I ate the food I got from the diner and then went to bed.
