This night you had a lot of trouble trying to sleep. The thought of that intimidating woman encompassed your mind rent free. But there is something about her. Something special, but you don't know what it is yet. It's like something blossoms inside you when she is near.
Growing up you never even thought of having a relationship with a man since it was strictly forbidden by your parents, women were not even in question. Slightest look at any man in your life would get you called a slut. Living a life like that for so long, makes it normal, because you've never experienced better. With time all those forbidden feelings fade. You loved your family as a daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt... But as a human, you hated them dearly.
This woman makes you feel like those feelings buried deep inside you, are finally getting the courage to dig their way out, after all years of hiding. There is still a thick wall surrounding you from totally opening up, but you feel like, Wilhemina has gotten inside. Is the feeling mutual?-you wondered throughout the cold night.
Around 3am you suppose it was, you fell asleep. You were awoken at 7:30 am by a knock on the door and a familiar voice;
"Breakfast in 30 minutes, Miss, be ready in time."And she did that again to you. It's almost like, your heart beats harder when you hear her voice.
You got ready, every day almost the same. Nothing changing, no news about the outside world. Are we just all waiting for our deaths here?
It was 7:55 and you made your way to the dining room, everyone already around the table, except for you, and Wilhemina. You sat down on your seat, waiting for your cube. Soon they were served. Ms. Venable still not there.
A few minutes passed, and you saw Wilhemina and Ms. Mead enter the room with a weird machine. Ms. Venable announced there has been enlarged radioactivity found which basically meant someone was outside the outpost. This machine will apparently buzz louder when more radiation is detected.
Cold sweat washed your body the same second. You didn't have a good feeling about this, but you knew it wasn't you who broke the rules so you just tried to calm down.
The machine luckily didn't have any reaction to you, but it was different for a one man sitting next to you. The machine reacted. Ms. Mead taking him instantly, without any of us knowing where he was going.
By this time everyone was already done with their meals, they left, headed to their rooms. Ms. Venable has just now started eating because she was absent during actual breakfast. You got up as well as everyone else and wanted to leave but you heard her soft voice behind you;
"Miss (y/l/n)? Headed where?"
-"To my room Ms. Venable. I'm finished eating."
-"Would you mind accompanying me here? Of course if you have something more important you wish to do, you shall go."
-"Oh, of course I'll stay Ms. Venable."
-"Very well. So tell me (y/n), what were you up to before the apocalypse?"
-"You've read my biography, Ms."
-"True, I have, but I want to hear it from you."
-"Well I just started collage before the apocalypse... I was working a side job as a babysitter. My life has always been boring. Always the same, old, gloomy city."
-"I've read about your depression."
-"Oh... Well yeah. I was getting better though... I suppose. Those pills really do drain the life out of you sometimes."
-"You used to be a straight A student. What happened later?"
-"I just couldn't hold myself together anymore. Getting out of bed was a struggle for me. I didn't even think about school anymore."
-"Do you blame yourself?"
-"What?"
-"I mean, do you blame your depression on something, someone, to be more particular?"
-"It's an illness, Ms. Venable, you can't blame it on anything."
-"Oh you can, and the one you should blame is yourself, and yourself only."
-"Excuse me?"
-"Such a big, pretty brain in that head of yours, filled with many thrilling thoughts, but it's own self is destroying it. They say the toughest soldiers were given the hardest fights. Now I will be leaving. Thank you for your time, pretty."
-"See you at lunch Ms. Venable."
-"I'm definitely looking forward to it."
You just smiled softly in reply. You went to your room right after, and waited until lunch. There was nothing better to do anyways.
Ms. Venable was there at lunch. You would catch her stare at you a few times. The man who was taken before was not here. That made you suspicious and you decided to follow Ms. Venable when the lunch is over.
She didn't go to her room. It was some other 'secret' hallway. And then a long way of stairs that went down. You supposed she was going to the basement. Why? You carefully listened as she talked to someone. You thought you heard... slaps? Something like that. You had no idea what it was.
When it was safe, you checked what was going on, and you saw that man from before hanging from the ceiling by his arms tied in chains. He was naked and his body was all red and bloody, almost like he has been tortured. You were shocked, didn't even know how to react. But before you could do anything, you felt a touch on your shoulders, and then a whisper in your ear;
