A classic hero of teen (and often adult) romance stories, the bad boy possesses the innate ability to capture the heroine's attention, heart, and nether regions from the moment they meet.
Relationship status: Single, often with a pesky, sexy ex
The Bad Boy often participates in one of two "love triangles":
Bad Boy, Heroine, good guy who wants the heroine
Bad Boy, Heroine, slutty girl who wants the bad boy
Habitat: Manly, macho areas like garages, boxing rings, the outdoors at night, bars, and room corners
Rarely found: animal shelters, concert halls
Physical attributes:
Taller than six feet
Muscular and/or in good shape
Dark eyes that do the talking
Hair length to his shoulders and/or hair that is both effortlessly perfect and messy at the same time
Scruffy around his chin
Strong jaw
So good looking it makes him arrogant
Tattoo(s)
Default expression: Smirk
Common traits:
HAS A REPUTATION FOR BEING A BAD BOY BUT NEVER ACTUALLY DOES ANYTHING BAD. Often, his good deeds outweigh the bad.
Mysterious
Gruff on the outside, caring on the inside
Immediately opens up to the heroine, even if they just met
Likes music; probably plays a "cool" instrument like a guitar
Like the Good Guy, he helps the heroine in trouble, even if he doesn't know or "like" her yet
Doesn't like people who are 'fake' (often in spite of having an ex who is exactly this)
Smokes and/or drinks (and if it's described as a problem, it's never really a problem)
Snarky, sassy, and sarcastic
Excellent fighter
A sex God. Dude knows where it's at! Winkywink.
Weaknesses:
Prone to quickly falling head over heels in true love for the heroine, which puts him in dangerous situations as he rushes to defend her honor
Pets
Small children
Education (too smart for school to care about doing assignments, they make their living without needing a degree)
Common background info:
Dark past, often tragic
Rich, but the self-made kind, especially if he's under 27
Usually lacks parents, but if he does, they usually are absent and/or totally unhelpful and useless
Siblings are not quite as hot but a perfect match for the Heroine's BFF
