** I have roughly eight POVs planned for this book, some will be antagonists and others will be important side characters. Ronan and August will only be the (first person) MAIN POVs while these other POVs will be in third person, and for reference as to what is happening outside of Ronan and August's POVs**

Altair observed Daesa from his throne, never quite liking her and her poised demeanor. She acted as if her words were above Altair's themselves, but she would be quick to find out that she was nothing but a sheep herded by its shepherd. She would not get in the way of Altair's plans.

Magnus ushered Daesa over to his throne before he took a seat beside Altair. Altair was quick to look alive and leaned forward in his seat, pretending to take interest in Daesa's presence. Altair couldn't care less though, and only wanted Magnus to himself so he could fix the damage done by other's opinions. Magnus was only supposed to listen to him.

"It would be wrong of me to not say that The Remnant hasn't been as successful as of late. You and your council have benefitted greatly from their efforts, enough that I believe Krak could stand without their assistance with the Vale," Magnus stated honestly, and I watched Daesa closely to discern her reaction, expecting the worst but she nodded instead.

"I couldn't agree more, Your Grace," she replied, gaze soft and relaxed. "I spoke with Gloom about the same over the course of our journey. I believe we have hit a dead end with all we can do for now. It might be best to wait and see where things go before we continue or attempt anything else."

Magnus grunted in agreement, then glanced to Altair. "Altair believes our expenditures invested in The Remnant could be put elsewhere—"

"—In the research of the Vale," Altair interjected plainly, making Magnus hush with a clench of his jaw before he forced a nod.

"But Krak has held a firm stance against such a thing for years. I was hoping you would have an idea, Daesa," Magnus continued, irking Altair into turning a sharp eye onto Magnus. He really was difficult to manipulate. Of all the people Altair had to choose to use for power, it had to have been a stubborn Damari.

Daesa clasped her hands in front of herself and tilted her head slightly in thought. Altair sat on the edge of his seat, hoping she would have no recommendations or else that left him with more of a mess to clean up. Steering Magnus's thoughts was like speaking to a rock most days. It wouldn't budge.

After a moment, Daesa sighed and shook her head. "I would have to give it more thought and consider what I have heard from the lords and ladies of your cities."

"So be it. I will await your word until then," Magnus stated with upturned lips.

He then stood from his throne and saw Daesa out from the Great Hall. Altair's stomach curdled as he watched the two of them walk together. Daesa was a thorn in his side and for years he had been trying to undermine her, yet nothing had worked out... until now. He only hoped, that for the sake of those involved, that they followed through with their commitment and saw this through to the end alongside him.
