Elena was tired, she needed a break from babysitting so she did the sensible thing, she put Ere to sleep got two baby monitors and left him in his cot. It was unclear where the cot came from but it said it was from Lou Ellen and the Hecate cabin so she didn't question it.
The cot rocked slowly back and forth as gentle music played. There was a mobile that hung from the side of stars and planets (no doubt from Thalia, who was travelling with the hunters) that spun slowly incase Ere woke up to entertain him. Good, she thought, I can leave now.
She decided to go out to the woods today to meet the Hephaestus Cabin Dragon but before that, she'd have dinner, maybe join the camp sing along. She hadn't seen him in a while, Elena thought back to the time she first met him with Beckendorf. Her eyes stung at the thought of her favourite Hephaestus Cabinner and his girlfriend Silena. I could have saved them...Great, I can't even think about good memories without feeling guilty. Way to go Elena.
As she made her way to the dining pavilion, she thought about the new campers, they looked so confused, not unlike the first time she came to Camp. Leo. A voice whispered in her ear, he's kinda cute you know.
"Silena, please leave." Elena whispered.
"If you didn't want me here, why did you summon me? Did you not want my great advice on getting guys. Or what about the other boy, Jason?" Silena giggled silently. For a dead person she sure was lively.
"Go back home Silena please, it was an accident, I can't control these things, it's Nico who usually does the summoning around here. Besides, I have a feeling Beckendorf is waiting for you."
Silena looked at Elena one last time before vanishing.
Oh Gods this is embarrassing, why can't I control these things? I must be out of practice. Elena wondered if anyone saw her talking to a ghost. Her stomach rumbled viciously as she went to sit at an empty Hades table. Perhaps I should sit with the Hermes Cabin. I'm technically still a part of them.
She soon regretted this, Elena was bombarded with multiple questions about Ere.
"Does he have two eyes?"
"Does he poop a lot?"
"Is he super powerful, being the child of a primordial god and all?"
"Does he talk?" Being the introverted person she was, she started getting nervous and uncomfortable. Thankfully Connor came to her rescue.
"Guys calm down. He's a baby not an animal, I'm pretty sure he has both eyes I've seen him. As for his powers, I bet he's super powerful we just don't know yet" Connor winked from across the table at Elena who blushed madly and looked away.
"Whatever it is you're thinking of doing to my child, stop it." Elena said seriously.
The cabin goers were stunned that Elena referred to her brother as her child. She was known for being the den mother of the camp and taking in new campers but for her to actually refer to someone as her child was the highest honour.
