It was quiet in the dinner hall. The only sound was the clanks of silverware and the chewing of food. Kasdeya's legs were crossed under the table. She sipped her wine and went back to her steak. Kasdeya's ayes finding Andel's wrists and saw diamond cufflinks. That rose her curiosity. With an arched eyebrow she asked "Who gave you those extravagant cufflinks?"Andel's eyes widened, only for a second. "No one you know of." "So a woman?" She asked casually. Her heart tightened. Oddly enough. She wasn't dense, she knew why. But she denied it immediately. Claude would die of her hands, as well as Jeannette. Then Kasdeya would find a spell to rise Athanasia from the dead and they would live happily together.
Andel stayed quiet after that. The rest of the night was spent in silence. It had been weeks since they had gotten married. This was what they usually did. They would wake up, and do their usual routine. The only time they ever spent time together was at dinner. Kasdeya would normally be spending the day outside, occasionally going inside to do her paperwork.Andel would do the opposite, staying inside all day to do paperwork and go out to breath fresh air.
Weeks had gone by since that day. Finally the day came. He brought a woman into the home. Kasdeya wasn't surprised, but her heart ached anyways. Her name was Evangeline.
Wavy blonde hair that seemed soft and wavy, similar to Kasdeya's, but her's was well taken care of. Her eyes were forest green that you could get lost in. Her skin pale and soft, the complete opposite of Kasdeya, Kasdeya's was tanned and rough because of the war's she had been through. She was just as busty as Kasdeya, but she seemed prettier than her in every way.
Kasdeya's jaw clenched. She didn't know why she was comparing herself against Evangeline. It made her insecure. Her name the complete opposite of Kasdeya's. It almost felt like Kasdeya was jealous of her. No. She would not be jealous of a daughter of a count.
She greeted her with a nod. She didn't want to though."The maids will show you to your room."Andel stated softly. She glowered at Andel the moment Evangeline went with the maid. "Why is she living with us?" Kasdeya growled. "I love her." He stated. Kasdeya scoffed. "You. Loving somebody? Ha. This must be the end of the world."She remarked."You don't love. You don't have the ability to love." She sneered. "You're still angry about that?"
Finally she snapped. "Listen here you asshole, because of you I can't love people. I want to love, feel heartbreak, and love again. You made it impossible." Tears were starting to spill out. She never cried because of sadness, she cried with anger. Kasdeya turned around, leaving Andel in surprise.
Andel had known Kasdeya since their childhood, and he had never once seen her cry. It was.....odd. He had never seen Kasdeya as a girl, just a friend and a rival. When she confessed, he was disgusted. Many girls swooned over him at the academy, he had thought Kasdeya was different. He turned out to be wrong. He rejected her harshly, and ever since then she had treated him rudely.
"HEY!" Kasdeya exclaimed, waving. Andel turned and grinned at her. "HEY!"He waved back.
Then he became confused as he saw Kasdeya's cheeks flushed.
They were meeting at their usual spot under the pear tree. "Look....uh...."Kasdeya's face growing redder than a tomato. "I really like you..and-"
Andel was surprised, and that grew into disgust. Andel cut her off "Ha...I really thought you were different, but you're just like other girls. You're the lowest of the scum, pretending to be my friend just to use me."Andel sneered.
Kasdeya's eyes widen. She looks down and turns around. She walks away slowly, until out of sight.
Andel remembered feeling disgusted at Kasdeya for a few days. He opened the door to Evangeline's room and smiled to see her sleeping. He walked forward and kissed her head. She was beautiful in every way. He turned around and walked out, slowly closing the doors.
He walked back to his room and slept soundly for the rest of the night.
