Althea woke to a sunshine filled room. She lay cuddled on top of the brown haired boy. His arms were tightly laid across her, protecting her from being taken. "Hello, darling," Jackson whispered. "Hi," she spoke shamefully, not wanting him to spot the scent of eau de morning breath. She still felt unsure about him and his motive. Althea moved to get up, but Jackson pulled her back to him. "No, Jackson, I have to get up!" she whispered. "No." Althea kept her face buried in his chest, waiting until he would let her go. "Let me go," she muttered. "No thanks." Althea groaned. "Jackson, I have morning breath!" she complained. "Me too! We can have morning breath together," Jackson argued. "No, it's embarrassing," she replied. Jackson released her. Althea bolted toward the bathroom and locked the door. Jackson laughed at her. Minutes later, she emerged with her teeth cleaned and her hair brushed. "Where's my phone?" she asked. Jackson held it out to her with a smirk on his angel face. What did you do, Jackson?" She opened her phone. She saw the texts. Althea's heart melted. Nobody ever said things like this about her. She threw her phone down on the carpeted floor and ran to him. Althea felt like she was in a movie. "Jackson, I," she never finished her words. Jackson nearly missed her lips. He pulled her to his chest, holding her tightly. When she pulled away, she said, "Don't leave me. I just found you." Was she sure of herself? Jackson dried her tears with the pad of his thumb. "Never."
The drive home was sweet. Althea knew that Jackson would have to go home, but she didn't want him to leave. Despite them knowing each other for only a day, Jackson knew that she was the one for him. He could tell by the way he looked at her. She could be herself around him, and he knew that. It wasn't awkward, and she knew it would never be. Jackson held her hand the entire time. Nothing would ever get in their way. Althea didn't cry that day. Jackson cradled her in his arms, gently comforting her. When Jackson dropped her off at her home, she lent over the center console to kiss him goodbye. She held his gaze until they could no longer see each other. Althea opened the door to her home and dropped right on the couch. She sighed with happiness. She hoped that Jackson would stay in her life. They needed each other.
