An Unstoppable Team

Standing in the dark cave beneath the mansion, Ladybug had her yo-yo spinning beside her in an insane speed, while Chat Noir stood next to her in a fighting stance, his baton whipping next to him, symmetrical to his partner's weapon.

The pure white butterflies fluttered around, giving a beautiful scenery, made ugly by their one rival in front of them.

Chat Noir wasn't the happiest to see who was standing in front of them, his confidence failing him, his emotions all over the place, anger and hatred filling inside him, but a part of him still loved the man who was opposing them.

Seven weeks ago, they made a discovery. And a week before that they made another discovery. It was all too much to take in. But they had already made plans, and plotted out everything clearly with pen and paper. And they promised each other that no matter what, they would stay for each other and with each other. They would fight, plan and embrace each other together. They were partners in crime, although not so criminal.

(Eight weeks ago):

Marinette and Adrien were crazily maneuvering their controls, as they tried to maximize the damage on the opponent team, each with their tongues stuck out and eyebrows furrowed, each calling out various victory lines for each attack on their enemies.

"Woo! And that's another point for us!" Exclaimed Adrien in sheer happiness, and continued, "C'mon Mari, we can do this-"

Marinette giggled while still concentrating on the screen, and laughed, "Yep. They are gonna meet their doom. We are the unstoppable team. Go us!"

Something about the term 'unstoppable team' struck Adrien, but he shook it off, wanting to focus on the final match they were playing to face off the opponent team- two students from a neighbouring school, who were also qualified for the Ultra Mega Strike 2 Championship.

Marinette changed her tactics, and using her superhero brain, discovered a more complicated but efficient method to defeat the other team. She pushed her buttons hard, beads of sweat rolling down her forehead, moving her character right to left, and left to right, confident that they would win, especially with Adrien beside her.

"Another punch there, and another one in the middle... And.... BOOM!"

A victory sign in gold appeared on the screen, and Adrien and Marinette leapt up in surprise and hugged each other tightly. "We won! Mari we won!" Adrien screamed into Marinette's ear, making her laugh.

While they stood on the stage, a big gold trophy was brought before them, and whilst they posed for the pictures, unconsciously, Adrien and Marinette raised their fists, and exclaimed quietly, so that only the two could hear, "Pound it!"

For a mere five seconds, the two didn't realize anything, and then they turned to each other, shock clearly visible on their faces.

"Are you....?" They both started, looking at each other's eyes while blushing themselves.

"Chat Noir?" Asked Marinette, at the same time Adrien asked, "Ladybug?"

The two smiled at each other nervously, and Marinette replied, "Let's talk about this afterwards..."

(A week after):

"Mari..." Called Chat, looking sad, his legs dangling on the edge of the building.

"Hmm?" Asked the bluenette, turning towards him, "What's up?"

"I think I know who's Shadowmoth."

Ladybug stared at him in surprise and questioned, "And why are you so unhappy about it?"

"Because it's my father I'm suspecting..." He answered, not looking at Ladybug. "Oh-oh!" Was all she could stammer. After a while of silence, Ladybug asked, "But why though? I mean why do you suspect him?"

Chat stared out at the roads and lampposts and explained, "You know.. when we were fighting against my father when he was akumatized, The Collector, I think... I realized a lot." He took a deep breath and continued, "I think ShadowMoth can akumatize himself... And you know how I took that book of miraculous superheroes?"

"Mhm."

"Well, you know, I think ShadowMoth always had that book with him, along with the butterfly and peacock miraculous-"

"That's what even Master Fu tried to tell me.. but I couldn't accept it.."

Chat looked at her and asked, "Really? What did he say?"

"The same thing you just told me. He always believed that ShadowMoth possessed that book and those two miraculouses," answered Ladybug.

"Oh.."

Ladybug told, "You found any other evidence?"

"Not really, but I can see what you said when you showed me the butterfly design on the shoes, and I did a little recapping, and realized that my house is filled with moth designs. I don't have any another evidence, but I think we should examine him again."

Ladybug nodded and wondered aloud, "But to keep all those butterflies safely, without anyone's knowledge, he must have a secret ground or something you know? But I really don't know where he would-"

Chat's eyes widened in realization and said, "I-I think I know somewhere where his secret liar might be..."

(A few minutes ago):

The superhero duo broke into the Agreste mansion stealthily, hoping that no one would hear them, and entered into Mr. Agreste's office secretively. "So far so good," cheered Ladybug, shooting a wink to Chat Noir. "Okay, now follow me." He said.

Ladybug followed the black leathered lad to a huge painting in the centre of the wall behind Mr. Agreste's computer, when she heard her partner sigh, "Oh mother, I wish you were here...."

Ladybug felt dissatisfied with how much she had done to cheer him up, and placed a hand on his and gently told, "I'm sure she would be proud to know that you stand for good and not for evil."

"Thanks princess." He grinned feeling slightly better.

Taking the opportunity, Ladybug lectured, "Quit the nicknames."

"You know you love them, bugaboo." He answered smirking down at the bluenette, causing her cheeks to turn a fiery red. "L-let's just continue..."

And soon enough, they found out about the three buttons and the lowering lift, and gasped quietly at the underground cave they now stood in, and were surprised to find ShadowMoth himself standing in the front of the long walkway.

"ShadowMoth!" Chat called out through gritted teeth, making the villain turn around and shake in fear. "How did you-?"

"Game's up Gabriel. The cops are on their way, and don't try anything, you know you can't win," shouted Ladybug with all the confidence she had in herself at that moment, and turned to Chat, "Kitty, you okay? You can get some rest if you want-"

"No M'lady, I'll stand by you forever, fighting against evil, even if we're alone-"

"-We're always together."

They raised their fists up, and with weak smiles they said, "Pound it!"
