Her cooking is as delicious as always, and the kitchen is full with our conversation. "We can go to the beach, seems fun!" I say, sipping my coffee. Kaleah nods, and lays out khakis for me to wear over my bathing suit. "In case we head to the surf shop before we go to the water."
I should have remembered our love of surfing. Ever since college, I was in New York away from the waters. Besides, I didn't have time to swim up north. And, the water temperature was freezing. And now we could start again. As I put the khakis on, I stare at the collection of flip-flops to choose from.I decide to wear some pastel ones. And I pick a strapless crop top for my cover-up shirt. Pocketing my phone and wallet, we set out for the local Ron Jon Surf Shop and grab some surfboards and wax. Then, we're at the water. A lifeguard stand towers over an umbrella, and swimmers are out, happily splashing the salty, clear water. The waves are perfect today. Kaleah and I catch some goods ones, using the Hawaiian Shaka-Shaka.
Our wet hair slips down our backs, and we laugh and have fun in the water. No care in the world. Not even a shark attack could ruin my day. Until something could.Will.
He approached, and waited until K looked away. "Hello, stupid bitch." Will smiled, though it was fake. I grab Kaleah's arm, and drag her to shore.
