(y/n) happily sat on the table as her mother figure Eda the Owl Lady sold strange objects from
the human world. The young witch was excited to see what new things Owlbert would bring.
She moved from her criss cross position to sit with her legs hanging over the edge of the table
and leaned forward, eagerly waiting for the small palisman to return.
Soon enough Owlbert came out from behind the curtains carrying a sack full of human objects.
“Finally, you’re back.” Eda commented when she saw him.
(y/n) happily jumped from the table and kneeled in front of Owlbert. She patted the top of the
small owl’s head and grabbed the sack to give to Eda.
“Now let’s see what we got here.”
Owlbert hooted before landing on the staff and Eda twisted him into place.
“Garbage, garbage, garbage.” Eda said as she threw stuff out of the bag.
(y/n) pulled herself back onto the table to peer into the bag. Eda let out a soft gasp and pulled
something from the bag.
“Now this, this will make me rich!”
Eda put on a pair of drooping spring eyes glasses and turned around. (y/n) giggled softly and
clapped happily.
“And this,” Eda pulled out a book.
“Ah, this’ll make good kindling.”
Eda held the book over a candle. (y/n) leaned down into a crawling position and ‘ooo’d as the
corner of the book started to catch on fire.
“Excuse me, sorry that’s mine, thank you!”
A random girl came out of nowhere and grabbed the book from Eda’s hand. (y/n) shot up and
jumped off the table and the girl ran off. But luckily Eda closed the portal to the human world
before she could escape.
The girl turned around to face Eda who held the key to the door. (y/n) stood next to Eda and
stared at the girl curiously.“You’re not going anywhere.” Eda said in an angry tone and took off the glasses.
The girl yelled and crawled under the tent curtain to escape. Eda and (y/n) followed and saw the
girl panicking.
“Did I die?! Am I in the bad place?”
Eda grabbed the girl’s shoulder and looked down at her. (y/n) peaked out from behind Eda and
waved.
“You wish.”

Eda pushed the girl onto a stool. The girl pulled her knees to her chest and looked up at Eda
who was leaning down close to her face. (y/n) sat on the table again, watching.
“I’m so sorry I just wanted my book! If you’re gonna eat my skin just make it quick! Just do it
now!” The girl held out her arm and looked away with her eyes shut tightly.
(y/n) covered her mouth to hide her laugh.
“Eat you? Why would I eat a potential customer?”
Eda’s mean and scary act melted off into a happy and kind one.
“Can I offer you a human foot filled with holes? A bar of green human candy? Oh, Oh! How
about this black shadow box that reflects only sadness?”
Eda pushed the black box into the girls’ face. The girl started laughing. Eda and (y/n) looked at
her in confusion.
“That’s not all it can do.”
The girl stood up from the stool and grabbed the TV.
“Here let me see it.”
She grabbed some of the ‘human candy’ and pressed a button on the TV to turn it on.
“Voila!”
People started crowding around the stand.
“I’ll pay forty snails for this screaming box!”
“I’ll give you a hundred!”
“Can I eat the tiny person inside?”
They all started talking over each other. (y/n) stared in awe at the mysterious girl and jumped off
the table.
“What did you say your name was?” Eda asked.
“I’m Luz, Luz Noceda.”
“Well Luz, That was pretty clever. For a human.”
“That’s kind of a weird thing for another human to say.”
“Oh dear child, I’m not like you.”
Eda pulled off her head scarf to reveal her pointy ears and stood up on the table.
“I’m Eda the Owl Lady! The most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles!”
“A witch?”
“I am a respected, feared--”
“Busted.”
A guard smashed the TV with his large fist. (y/n) shrunk down in fear and muttered a small ‘oh
no’.
“Eda the Owl Lady, you are wanted for misuse of magic and demonic misdemeanors.”
He held up a wanted poster showing a picture of Eda with King and (y/n) at her side, under the
picture was ‘Owl Lady’ in large letters.
“Woah, witch criminal!”
Luz and (y/n) both turned to look at each other and made eye contact before looking back at Eda
and the guard.
“You are hereby ordered to come with me to the Conformatorium.” He grabbed Eda’s arm.
“Would you guys quit following me around?”
Eda pulled her arm out of the large man’s grasp.
“I haven’t done squat.”
Eda crossed her arms. (y/n) grabbed onto the front of her hooded cape out of nervousness.
“And you’re comin’ too, for fraternisin’ with a criminal.”
He grabbed the both (y/n)’s and Luz’s hoods in one hand hand held them up, making them
bump into each other's sides.
“Wh-what?! That’s not cool!”
Luz grabbed her knees and (y/n) nodded in agreement.
“Oh alright, alright. You win, just let me get my stuff.”
Eda ducked under the table and pulled out her staff. She swung it at the guard making him fall
backwards and let go of the two teens who fell to the ground.
Eda slammed her staff onto the ground, making her stuff float.
“Oops, can’t forget this.”
Eda pulled out the key to the portal door and pressed on the eye, making it shut into a case.
She put all the stuff into a makeshift bag that she put on the end of her staff.
“Follow me, girls!”
Eda ran off, (y/n) right behind her and Luz following soon after.
“This is crazy! If I die here my mom’s gonna kill me!” Luz said as she ran next to Eda.
“Ha! I won’t let him hurt you. A human like you is much more valuable to me alive than dead.”
“Wait what’s that supposed to--”
“Whoo!”
Eda jumped up while holding up her staff and locking her and Luz’s arms together. She jumped
onto the staff and it started flying, grabbing (y/n) by the arm and pulling her up in front of her and
Luz. (y/n) laughed happily as they flew higher.
Luz had her eyes shut and held her book close to her chest and tears fell from her eyes.
“You can open your eyes now, Human.”
Luz opened her eyes and yelled, grabbing onto the staff with her arms and legs and swinging
under it, almost making (y/n) fall off. (y/n) grabbed onto the staff with her hands and turned
around to face Eda and Luz.
“Flying staffs, crazy monsters, you’re a witch!”
Eda grabbed Luz and placed her on the staff.
“What is this place?”
(y/n) giggled a little and smiled kindly at the confused human.
“The Boiling Isles!”
Eda nodded to confirm what (y/n) had said.
“Every myth you humans have is caused by a little of our world leaking into yours.”
After Eda’s explanation a griffin flew next to them.
“A griffin!”
The griffin opened its mouth and a large amount of spiders came out. Luz pointed at it.
“I knew it!”
“Yep! Griffins, vampires, giraffes.”
“Giraffes?”
“Oh yeah, we banished those guys. Bunch of freaks.”
Eda stopped the staff and jumped off. (y/n) happily jumped off and stood next to Eda.
Luz screamed at Eda’s hand that was still on the staff. (y/n) turned around and helped Luz off
the ground.
“Oops. That happens sometimes.” Eda said as she re-attached her hand to her arm.
“Well, I’ve had enough adventure for today. This is clearly not the PG fantasy world I always
dreamed about. So, can you help me get back home?” Luz asked while looking up at Eda.
“Only if you help me first!”
Eda laughed as she started walking away.
“Now come along human.”
“Woah.” Luz whispered to herself, but of course (y/n) heard.
“Hello!”
She popped up in front of Luz seemingly out of nowhere. Luz yelled out in surprise and held her
book in front of her face protectively.
“Oh, sorry.” (y/n) rubbed the back of her neck.
“I don’t think we’ve actually introduced ourselves to each other! I’ll go first! My name is (y/n) (l/n)!” (y/n) smiled at Luz and waited for her to introduce herself. Luz smiled back.
“I’m Luz Noceda!”
“Nice to meet you! Now we better not leave Eda waiting for too long!”
(y/n) grabbed Luz’s hand and ran off to where Eda was.

“Aren’t you worried about those guards finding us?” Luz asked as the group got to the front door
of the house.
“Nope! My house has a state of the art defence system.”
Eda pointed her staff up.
“Hoot hoot. Password please.” Hooty asked.
Eda poked him in the eyes with her fingers.
“We got no time for this, Hooty. Let us in.”
“Aright, alright. Geez! You never wanna have any fun! Ow! Hoot!”
Hooty opened his mouth to the size of the door and the group of three entered. Hooty closed his
mouth back to normal.
“Welcome to…” Eda snapped her fingers. “...the Owl House.”
All the lights in the house started turning on, showing the insides of the house. Luz gasped
quietly.
“Where I hide away from all the pressures of modern life. Also the cops. Also ex boyfriends.”
Eda chuckled.
“This place is beautiful.” Luz set down her book.
“Is it just you two living here?”
After Luz asked that the house started shaking.
“Actually we have a roommate.” Eda crossed her arms as the shaking got worse.
“Who dares intrude upon I, the King of demons?!” King said as he walked into the room in a
towel and towel hat, his voice starting out deep but returning to normal.
He made the rubber ducky he held in his hand squeak. Luz gasped and ran towards King.
“Ay! Que lindo!”
She grabbed him and hugged him.
“Eda he is so cute! Who’s a widdle guy?! Who’s a widdle guy?! Is it you? Is it you?”
“No! I don’t know who your little guy is! (y/n)! Eda! Who is this monster?!”
“Oh, this is Luz the human.” Eda grabbed Luz, who was trying to grab King again.
(y/n) walked over to King and patted his head gently.
“She’s here to help us with our little… situation.”
Eda set Luz down.
“Oh, hooray!”
“Wait wait wait! I don’t like the sound of this “situation”.”
Luz did air quotes with her hands.
“Just… let me explain.”
Eda backed away and drew a magic circle with both her hands.
“King was once a mighty king of demons, until his crown of power was stolen and he became…
this.”
“You mean this little bundle of joy?”
Luz asked while she hugged King.
“The crown is being held by the evil Warden Wrath and locked away behind a magical force field that only a human can break through. A human like you. If you help us retrieve his crown we’ll
send you back to your realm. So what do ya say? Plus, who could say no to this cute face.”
Eda held King up by his head.
“No! Please don’t encourage her!”
King started kicking his legs. Then Eda dropped him and he hit the ground, making a ‘neyh’
sound.
“I mean, we’re kinda your only way home.”
“So I don’t really have a choice, do I?”
“Nope!”
(y/n) said happily after being silent for a while.
Eda threw Luz over her shoulder and started walking towards the door.
“Now, you’ve got no time to lose!”
Kind picked up his duck.
“Soon Mister Ducky, we shall drink the fear of those who mocked us!”
(y/n) picked up King and followed behind Eda and Luz.
“Where are we going?”
Luz asked while looking up at Eda.
“Somewhere super fun!”
