Maeve's Point of View:

As everyone got loaded onto the train, my compartment stayed empty. Sat all the way in the back with my head rested on my arms in front of me. I could really use a nap, my body was exhausted. I casted up a noise blocking spell and with that, I drifted off into a noiseless sleep.

I dreamt of peace.

I don't know what peace looked like anymore. Was there such a thing as peace on earth? Or did one have to escape to death to find peace? Living peacefully is the dream, but I am more leaning towards that dream will never be a reality.

"Wake up"

Huh?

"Maeve wake up"

Who is that? Is there someone in the train car with me?

"Please Maeve, wake up." With that being said, I started to feel taps on my arms.

Slowly opening my eyes, trying to blind the sleep away, I lifted my head to focus on whoever was sitting in front of me. Sort of pissed they woke me up, but clearly it seemed important.

You've got to be kidding me.

Draco fucking Malfoy.

"You don't have to say anything, but just let me talk...ok?"

I nodded because he had a hint of something I had never seen before in his deep gray eyes.

Usually, reading people wasn't a difficult task for me, but I had no idea what he was doing here or what he wanted in the slightest.

He took me nodding was a sign to continue, so he takes one deep breath and starts talking so quickly my brain can't wrap around what he is saying.

"W-well, when I was at your house a few days ago a-and you came in your fathers study to tell him about the incident with your m-mom you looked so scared. I know we aren't f-friends and this is really out of character for me, but I don't really think I care. Y-you looked so scared of your dad and-"

"Slow down" I whispered to interrupt him. I was so scared to see where he was going with this.

He cant see anything right? He doesn't know anything...right?

"Why do you talk to me now?" He looked so puzzled after I had interrupted his little speech. I wasn't aware I was ignoring him before, I mean I think this is the first time he has ever talked to me in our six years of being in school together.

"I wasn't ignoring you before, I just don't think we have ever gotten the chance to speak. Considering you know my name and whole life story already, I don't think we need to go through the formalities of introducing ourselves." I spat out, trying to sound as nice as possible, but I was terrified.

Scared that he knew what Emmett did.

Scared Emmett knew that he knew.

Would he hurt Draco? Surely not.

Just his disappointing, ugly, fat, gross, disrespectful daughter.

God why didn't I just-

"Get out of your head. Your mind is running a mile a minute."

Pardon? How can he tell?

"Now let me continue, are you scared of your dad?" He got straight to his point now that he could tell I was growing anxious.

Do I lie? Do I tell him? I surely cant trust him. We aren't even friends yet.

"No, Father is a very nice man. He just likes to keep me in line, and I sure can run my mouth. We just had a talk after you and your father left." I lied again for what feels like the tenth time in the past few days, I hated lying and from the look on Draco's face, I was awful at it.

"Does he hit you?"

"Father wouldn't dream of it. I am totally safe."

"You're lying"

Fuck.

"No I'm not, but if I was...whats it to you? Why is the Draco Malfoy up Mute Maeve's lame ass right now?"

He looked shocked, shocked that I had let my attitude rain free or the fact that I knew the nickname everyone called me at school.

I don't talk because firstly, Emmett doesn't want me to have friends. Secondly, I have grown to get used to being alone I don't expect anything more. Loneliness was numb, and numb was home.

"Because I want to be."

With that, he reached forward and let his pinky rest on my own. I flinched really hard, and that's all he needed to know.

"Let me help you."

"I don't need saving."

"Fine Maeve, but if you ever find yourself needing a friend, you know where to find me."

With that, he gets up and makes his way out of the compartment. As the platinum blonde hair slowly faded away, the strong scent of apples and mint surely didn't go anywhere. It smelled so nice, he always smelled as if he had just taken the longest shower of his life and drenched himself in apple body soap.

Maeve, what the hell?

Draco Malfoy of all people, why?

I am really starting to believe I hit my head at some point, I mean come on there is no way this is my life right now...right?

He woke me up, touched my arm, acted concerned, AND told me to come to him if I need anything. I definitely hit my head, I should probably start checking for bumps. Maybe even go take a trip to Madam Pomfrey, even though the woman drives me mad.

As soon as I go to lay my head back down, the Hogwarts express came to a stop.

We were here, welcome to sixth-year.

If it goes anything like the last couple of hours have went, I am in for a wild ride.

I just need to go back to laying low and not talking to anyone, I feel like my whole world is upside down because I had a singly conversation with Malfoy.

Mute Maeve will be back in full swing, as everyone wanted.
