After the talk last night with Charles I went to sleep. Well the little bit I could had. What Charles said last night kept swimming around in my head all night causing me to squirm and shift from side to side all night.

It is 6:00 am in the morning now and we all woke up from our slumber. It is still pretty dark outside. Strange. Anyway as promised to stay one night, we gotta go. We all gathered our things and were waiting for Charles to come out so that we can thank him for letting us stay the night and go.

Oh! You guys are up. Great. Good morning. Charles voice came from behind us. We all turned around and found him smiling at us. I guess he is happy we wont be a burden on him anymore.

Good Morning Mr. Charles. We were just waiting for you. Thank you for letting us stay the night, we all are really thankful  for that and as promised well be leaving now. It was nice to meet you. I smiled politely.

Oh no youre not going anywhere. he stated nonchalantly.

Shocked we all turned to face him again.

"What?" I ask him in shock.

Im sorry we didnt quite catch there, did you just said that we can stay? Owens voice filled with hope. We all rolled our eyes at him.

But Mr. Charles you said-

I know what I said and I changed my mind. You guys are staying. he cut me off.

Alan, Brandon, Jules, Owen and Allison were all ecstatic but I feel something off about Charles. I mean dont get me wrong Im glad that he is letting us stay but what made him change his mind overnight is what bugging me. I let it slide for now. I cant do anything about that now anyway.

What surprised me more is that Charles took us inside that yellow door that was hiding behind the shelf. We all looked at one another amazed that he is letting us in. It is the same as the last time I saw it. Cream  wallpapers with the combination of blue. It is a cozy little compartment.

The same old woman came out from the kitchen with a soft smile on her face.

Hello Darlings. I know you might be wondering how this thick skull old fellow here let you stay. Well you can all thank me later for that. Im Maia by the way. she greeted us all and welcomed us with warm hugs too.

I like her. Allison chimed and we all laughed.

Thank you for letting us stay here we really appreciate it. I spoke gratefully and thankfully.

Dont mention it love. Im sure you guys are pretty hungry. Lets get you something to eat. she said warmly before walking inside the kitchen again.

After stuffing our faces with the food and stomach we all sat there and just talked. Got to know each other. We found out that the two kids names are Eric and Elliot. They are twins and they are five years old. They dont know what happened to their parents or their grandfather. It is really making my heart ache for them. They are really sweet boys.

We also got to know that there is a sanctuary out there somewhere. They are providing shelter for the survivors. It is outside the country and it is the safest place to live now. We just need to find a way to get there and get the hell out of this country, make it out alive of this whole fiasco.

We sat there talking for what felt like ours. It is still dark outside. Im wondering what time is it.

Hey. What time is it? I asked Alan. He looked at his watch and answered.

Its 8:00 am. Why? he asked.

Wait. Did you said 8 in the morning? I asked skeptically.

Yeah. Why? he asked curiously.

I got up from my seat and went towards the window. I slide the curtains a little and what I saw outside made a chill run through my bones. And not in a good way.

There is eerily dark outside. Everything is spread around like there was storm last night here. Cycles, bikes, cars everything is broken. Half fallen buildings, shops tattered, everything is just wrecked.

What the hell happened here? I whispered. Fear thick in my voice. I took a shaky breath and gulped down lump in my throat.

Mr. Charles? What is happening? I asked him shakily.

My eyes are wide and breathing was erratic from the sight before me.

This is what happens when they come. he said quietly.

I furrowed my brows at him not understanding what he is saying.

What do you mean? Brandon asks.

It goes dark for days every time they come on earth. They bring darkness with them because thats an advantage for them, they can see and hear at night the best. They are blind and deaf in the daylight so whenever they come, they makes sure there is no light for them. Only darkness. he explained.

Who are they that youre talking about since we came here? I asked agitated. Its really getting on my nerves now. Not knowing. Its frustrating. Ugh.

Its not the right time for you to know. he said which fueled my irritation more.

Are you kidding me right now? I asked through gritted teeth.

No. he is calm.

We deserve to know what we are dealing here with. You cant do this to us. I was on the verge to explode.

I can and I will. This conversation is over. he stated sternly and walked away.

I hate him so much right now.

Every time I wanna know something he just closes the conversation and walks away.

Damn you old man.
