Chapter 1: The Truth

Jang-min's P.O.V (You)

I woke up to the sound of my alarm, and saw my parents at my door.
Mom: "Good morning sweetie!" she exclaimed with a big smile on her face.
Jang-min: "Good morning." I replied with a big smile as I sat up on my bed.
Dad: "Today is the day."
Jang-min: "Day for what?" I was a bit confused as I yawned.
They looked at each other with a small smile on their lips and said.
Both: "The day our baby girl starts High School."
My eyes widened as I realised that it was today.
Jang-min: "High school. I start High school today!!" I said excitedly as I jumped out of bed and started to get ready.
Mom: "We'll meet you downstairs for breakfast okay sweetie?"
Jang-min: "I'll be down in a bit!" I replied as they closed the door.

Today was another perfect day. I live in Sector 9, of the New World with my parents. We moved here when I was 12 during the summer because of reasons I would rather not talk about. I have no aunts or uncles, no cousins and no grandparents. Both of my parents are only children and my grandparents already died. As I was putting on my shoes I heard some commotion coming from the kitchen then silence. I thought it was just my dad scaring my mom, but as soon as I stepped out of my room I knew something was off.
I live in this perfect society where we obey the government. To be honest with you I don't really like it and would do anything to be free but my parents have told me not to do anything like that because it is dangerous. Everyone likes to be perfect but not me. I have this mark on my wrist that my parents tell me to hide so that I can fit in and I do as they say.

Jang-min: "Mom?Dad?" I said as I made my way to the kitchen.

Mom: "In here honey!" she said with a worried tone.

I entered the kitchen and saw them at the table with worried looks on their faces.

Dad: " Honey we have something important that we need to discuss with you." he said with a serious tone that he rarely ever used.

Jang-min: "What is it? Has school been canceled? Did I do something wrong?" I asked, kinda scared.

Mom: "No dear school isn't cancelled and you didn't do anything wrong."

Dad: "Honey there's something that we have been meaning to tell you." Mom then let out a deep sigh and said.

Mom: "Sit down."

Dad: "Honey, do you know about rebels and outlaws?"

Jang-min: "Of course. Everyone knows that they are all wanted and if anyone is working with them or for them they are to be executed or severely punished. Why do you ask?"

Dad: "Jang-min we have been secretly working with a group of rebels." he said with a sad but serious tone.

Jang-min: "W-what?! N-no no your lying! You guys wouldn't do that! You're loyal to the government! You you work for the government and the government only!" I said holding back tears and not wanting to believe what he just said.

Mom: "I know honey. I know we told you that we are only loyal to the government and that we would personally execute a rebel if we ever ran into one, but the truth is that we wouldn't do anything to them, in fact we would help them."

Dad: "I know this is a lot to take in and-"

Jang-min: "Why. Why didn't you guys just tell me?!"

Mom: "We didn't know how you would react and we didn't want you to not trust us anymore."

Dad: "Your mother is right but now the government has found out and are coming to take us in for questioning. We won't say anything but they will take all of our memories. They know that you are our daughter and me and your father will take a memory erasing pill so that they won't know what we told you."
