~~~The Return Of Derry's Horror~~~
"It can't just use Stan's name like that, it's not fair," Adelaide's voice was muffled as she buried her head in Bill's chest, taking the comfort he radiated.
"I kn-"
Suddenly, the table shook, causing Bill to accidentally pull away from Adelaide. Her eyes were red and puffy from the tears and her voice was straining. Using the back of her hand, she wiped the tears off her face, her eyes staring at the bowl of fortune cookies placed at the center. The shake originated from there.
From where she stood, she could hear the room falling into silence. The only sounds filling the space were heavy breathings from the Losers including her pantings.
The once tightly huddled group had loosened. Instinctively, Bill had stretched out an arm in front of Adelaide. Her eyes glared at the bowl, awaiting any more movements.
Just then, one of the cookies flipped out of the bowl and onto the table right in front of Eddie and Ben. Curses were uttered under their breaths at the sudden movement. Slowly, the shell of the cookie cracked open. Actually, hatched would have been a better word for it.
A sudden high cry could be heard from within the fractured cookie and a slimy, cricket-like creature could then be seen. It had mothlike wings and the face of an ugly baby. It cried, the sound deafening and shrill. The creature turned to Mike.
It let out a shrilling scream as It crawled forward to the edge of the table where Mike sat just moments before he got up to back away. More fortune cookies had flipped out onto the table.
Adelaide just watched in horror as one of the cookies in front of Richie cracked open, revealing a slimy eyeball with some of the nerves still at the back of it. It was slithering towards Richie and he backed away until his back was pressed against the wall.
"HEY! THAT FORTUNE COOKIE'S LOOKING AT ME! SHIT!"
Adelaide thought it was kinda funny the way he said it. But all the humor in her body had left. Looking carefully at the eyeball, Adelaide realized what it looked like.
There was a really old movie she and Richie watched together once. There was a giant eyeball in it. It scared Richie for months. Adelaide could almost already guess what was to be revealed for her fortune cookie.
"It's gonna fucking show me a lizard," she mumbled almost angrily.
"What?" Bill frowned having forget that little fact about Adelaide.
"Just watch," she sighed.
Much like she had predicted, a fortune cookie had landed itself in front of the two. Slowly, it cracked open and Adelaide could already see the tail of a home lizard. Her eyes involuntarily rolled back, slightly annoyed that she could predict what the clown would use.
