It was Shrek's shrill cry accompanied by Trinity's complaints about Griffin the following morning that woke her up. She lazily got out of bed and made her way downstairs. The previous night's happenings were still fresh in her mind. At the dining table in the kitchen, breakfast had already been set and Trinity was impatiently waiting for the rest to join her.
"Hey, Renny, where were you last night? Mom and I looked everywhere for you but didn't find you." Trinity said reaching for the maple syrup across the table, tired of waiting to be joined.
"Good morning Reneaole! Morning Trinity!" Said Michael behind her, and turning to his wife, he said, "Do you think this tie matches the suit I'm in? I have a meeting at work today and I need to look my best!"
"You look good dad!" Trinity murmured between mouthfuls of pancakes.
"You do look great, honey! Renny, what'd you think?" Said Penny as she straightened his tie for him.
"Yeah, looks nice," replied a bored Reneaole behind the kitchen counter. It was just another normal morning at the Amazon's with Michael Amazon off to work, Trinity to her friend, Dolly Watson's house and Penny Amazon to her book - reading club that got together three times every week. All this meant Reneaole had the whole house to herself again. In about a week's time, she would have to continue learning, at home, her mother would have to be around always and Trinity would have to go back to school. Michael's schedule would not change; as Head Surgeon at the hospital where he worked, he had to be available all the time. It was a hectic job, but it earned him quite a large sum of money and this, he was proud of.
"Well, if you all think it's fine, then it is!" A huge smile formed itself across his face as he spoke. "I've really got to go, see you later!" He kissed his wife on her forehead, patted Reneaole and Trinity on their backs and left the house in a rush.
"I'll be going to Dolly's today, if you don't mind, mom." Trinity said, standing up to leave.
"Sure, why not?" She said as she cleared her plate and Trinity's from the table.
"Thank you, mom. See you later!" And with that, she left.
"Reneaole, will you be going anywhere today?" Penny asked.
"Nah, I'll be home." She replied, "As usual."
"Okay, then, I'll be at my book reading club and won't be back till six this evening. When I'm back, we'll talk, okay? I expect Trinity will be back by then."
"Fine," she replied.
"Bye! Have a lovely day." She then picked up her classy pink leather handbag and left without having breakfast.Reneaole was now left all alone in the house. After a quick breakfast, she ran back for her wand upstairs then went to her favourite spot in their garden. Here, there were fresh lilies, roses, carnations and several herbs. She was also greatly aware that no one, whether passing or inside the house, would be able to see her.
She felt her neck for the necklace, it was there, but she wondered how it was that no one had noticed it. Holding the wand up high, she noticed how shiny the gold was; so finely polished that it looked brand new. She thought of the letters she had read the previous night and the strange man who had given all this to her. She thought about magic and really wondered how she was supposed to learn it and how she was supposed to use the wand. She had seen cartoons and movies where there was magic and wabds but never had she imagined that it was real!
She absently waved the wand in the air and imagined sparks flying from its tip.
"How amazing would it be to actually perform magic?" She thought aloud.
"Morning!" Someone said behind her.
Startled, she turned and saw Ron smiling broadly, mischief and curiosity scribbled all over his face.Ron was a tall skinny boy who had short black and always unkempt hair. He had hazel-brown eyes and was often up to no good. He and Reneaole had met one afternoon when he had been riding his bike and had fallen right outside Reneaole's house. She had seen him and laughed herself silly before helping him up and ever since, they had become good friends. He too had few friends as he was also home-schooled and this brought the pair really close.
