Vivian looked around the store an odd confusion setting in her mind. She felt awful as she sat. Like she just got hit by a semi-truck. Like she just drowned in a pool. that's when Vivian realized she wasn't at home. she was in trader joes. A person sat next to her, on their shirt a name tag that read 'Lux.' Vivian tapped the person's shoulder.
"excuse me." Lux turned to Vivian clearly unnerved by something. Vivian continued.
"do you know why we're on the floor? I can't remember. My notebook doesn't say why either." Lux shook his head peering past the shelves to one of the windows.
"I'm not quite sure how to explain it, all I can say is you don't want to go outside." Vivian leaned over to see what Lux was looking at. Lux grabbed Vivian's shirt pulling her back to the samples booth. Vivian looked at Lux confused.
"Are we married? I feel like I'm married to someone." The person shook their head. The phone rang before they could say anything else. Vivian took out her phone.
"Hello? who is this?" Vivian said a man's voice echoed through the phone.
"Vivian, it's John, I was just calling to make sure your okay." Vivian looked at Lux confused.
"of course I'm okay?"
"good, listen, your medication stopped working. You had an episode a little bit ago. Something is happening right now. I don't want to trigger another episode so I can't say what's happening. Just stay there, don't look out the windows, don't go outside. I'm on my way." Vivan noded writing down the stranger's instructions. A small fly landed on her notebook. Its tiny maw opening ready to swallow her whole. Vivian screamed as she dropped the book. The fly sat starring at her as it slowly came towards her. Lux grasped Vivian stopping her from running outside.
"what's wrong?" John asked
"its- its- it's back John"
"the horse fly? honey, breathe remember, it's not real, it's not there." Vivian took deep breaths as she focused on the six-legged monster.
"it's not real, it's not there, it's not real, it's not there, it's not real, it's not there" The horse fly backed away from Vivian flying up to one of the shelve watching her, like a vulture waiting for its prey. Vivian shuffled closer to Lux who did their best to keep Vivian calm.
"that's right, hang in there I'll come to pick you up when it's safe to come out." Vivian sighed her anxiety was already acting up. she turned towards Lux doing her best to ignore the menace from above. she held the phone tightly.
"you're a very nice man, are you married?" Vivian asked hopefully. John sighed a slightly exhausted tone in his voice.
"yes, honey, yes I am."
"oh that's a shame, I probably would have married you," Vivian said slightly disappointed
"well, that makes sense I'm your husband." John chuckled, Vivian, peered at the phone in shock. She turned to Lux a slight look of accomplishment on her face.
"I knew that! I knew I was married!"
"Yeah, your getting better at remembering. do you remember how we first met Vivian?" John said
"I think so, I was, in the hills, I love the hills. I think I was living there. Right?"
"That's right!" John said excitedly, another horse fly landed next to the first the two sat eyeing Vivian. Vivian continued in hopes of distracting herself. Trying To inch away from the creature.
