After her claiming, Maria was moved to the infirmary where she was treated for her burns. That gave her some time to meet her fellow Apollo siblings, who were known for being healers. A few days, Maria moved into the Apollo cabin, but she still felt out of place. The only time Maria felt comfortable was when she was with Nico. She wouldn't admit it, but she kind of liked Nico. If Maria admitted it, she would be made fun of. Since Maria never knew her father was, she had never bothered to try any of the camps activities such as archery and swordsmanship. She knew that Apollo's children were knwon for their archery skills, so she decided to try that first. But she decided to go find Nico. When she found him, she politely asked, "Will you come show me where the archery lessons are held?". Nico was shocked, but he finally stammered out, "S-Sure." Together, they went down to the archery tent and saw that only Chiron was there. Maria was glad because she didn't want to be laughed at if she messed up. Chiron asked, "What may I do for you?" Maria told him that she wanted to learn archery so Chiron happily gave her a bow and arrow. She asked, "How do I use it?" Chiron replied, "I think you already know." Maria took a deep breathe, got her bow into position, and then let her arrow fly. When she opened her eyes, she was amazed by what she saw.
