"IT HAS BEEN A long time since you last visited here, Miss Featherington." Lady Danbury comes up behind me.
"Lady Danbury." I curtsy. "Good evening."
"Would you care to explain why you have not graced me with your presence for so many weeks?" Lady Danbury continues.
"Please accept my most sincere apologies, Lady Danbury." I say. "But I am afraid my Mama has kept me quite busy since it is my debut season."
"Ah, of course, your Mama." Lady Danbury replies, making me smile. "Well, I think we can move past this, if you join me for tea sometime in the next week?"
"It would be my pleasure, Lady Danbury." I answer.
"Well then let us have some fun." She tells me, and motions for me to take my hand.
"Whatever do you mean?" I ask her, but she just smiles.
"On guard!" I hear Colin tell his brothers, as Lady Danbury and I approach them, and I hide my laugh.
"Too late." Lady Danbury calls out to them. "I already noted you."
"Lady Danbury." They all greet cheerfully.
"Good evening." Anthony adds.
"Daphne, you look rather lovely this evening." I tell Daphne. "And I have not yet had the chance to tell you how lovely your presentation in front of the Queen was."
