THREE HOURS AGO:
“OK class, everyone take out your current events; Naahin, you’re up first”, said Mrs. Varney.
“So I did mine on the weird disease going around the world, called Zonbi Maladi. The first recorded case was in Brazil, and police think it has something to do with organ trafficking”, said Naahin.
“Oh I’ve heard of this, apparently it turns you into a zombie”. I whispered sarcastically to my friends.
Cole replied, “I heard that this weird disease is why Chelsea looked all sick this morning, her and her family went to South America over Christmas break.”
“I saw her during first block; she looked seriously ill, she was all pale and had huge dark circles around her eyes, also her eyes looked like they were iced over like a cake or like she had cataracts, last I heard she was in the nurses office”, Paige added.
“I hope she’s OK”, I said.
As the rest of the class continued with their current events, I zoned out and stared thinking about how much I wished I could just drive home and go to bed in sleep the day away. I was also thinking about how I was still hungry, but had already eaten all my lunch and spent what little money I had lying around in the darkest depths of my purse on a snack from the vending machine.
My phone vibrated against the desk and created a noise.
HUNTIR: I just walked past the front office and something super weird was going on… There’s yelling, screaming, and strange moans and groans.
JESSICA: That’s creepy… See if you can go back and check it out!
HUNTIR: OK I will. Tell Varney I’m in the bathroom.
JESSICA: Will do.
Setting my phone down I figured I should probably start paying attention, and groaned when I realized a worksheet was being passed around.
“Why can’t teachers respect the sanctity of doing nothing on Fridays?” I muttered.
“It’s like they’re trying to torture us”, Braeden answered.
*BANG*
As the door flew open we all practically jumped out of our seats at the violent entrance Huntir made.
“OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD!!!” Hunter exclaimed.
“Huntir, what’s wrong, what happened??” Mrs. Varney said as she went over to try to comfort Huntir.
“It’s Chelsea!” Huntir gasped out as she tried to stay calm, “Sh-she went crazy! She bit the nurse an-and attacked Mr. Sutton when he tried to restrain her! I ran as soon as the security guards rushed into the office and, oh god it was just awful...”
“STUDENTS AND TEACHERS, WE ARE NOW UNDER LOCKDOWN. PLEASE REMAIN CALM AND FOLLOW LOCKDOWN PROCEDURES”, an official voice said over the loudspeaker.
